Has anyone been able to get the Audio CD information (i.e. Artist, CD, Song Title, etc.) to display on the nav screen for any CDs. No matter how new the disk is, I have never seen it displayed. There are place holders for it, but nothing shows up. I'm just not sure if there is a display setting I can change or if you just have to have the right disk.

Thanks!

I have ... it will say the name of the Disc and then the title of the song ... you can also get a track listing. It's a fairly new CD.

Same here...nothing shows on the Nav Screen for a DVD-A, but yet the CD that I burnt with all my MP3's shows everything.

I have seen no radio data other than the frequency.

It depends on the Station. XM is Ok, but some stations do not broadcast any information.

I do not think that the system plays RDS. On stations that I know broadcast title info, since it showed up on my 03 mustang, nothing comes up on the radio or the nav screen. Does not do it in my Dad's TL either. You would think for a 45k car that it would!!!!

In order for the music information to show up on the NAV screen, you need to name you music files first.

If you rip your music files directly from your original CD collection, most of the computer would just name these files Track1, Track 2, etc.

What you need to do is right-click on the files you just rip, go to Property. Click on the Summary tab. Click on Advanced. You can highlight the information that you want to change. Keep in mind that only informaiton under Artist and Title will be displayed. Some works required, but I think it's worth it.:D

Hope this helps.:2:

most CD's, when popped into your computer will reference the internet to find the appropriate song titles, you really shouldn't have to enter anything for the most part. it'll show up for ya.

But back to the original question...why won't the Nav screen shown the artist & title for a DVD-A or CD? If it shows a homemade MP3 or Wav CD...why not a regular CD/DVD-A?

I think it has something to do with "CD Text" and whether the info is burned into the disc. I do not think they do it for commercial discs.

That information has to be embedded within the disc to be shown on the Nav. Most older discs don't have that information. Older CD's have an ID number that can be searched through an internet based database that will provide the artist name, song titles, etc. That information is then sent to your computer, hence you can typically see this information when you put a CD into your computer. That obviously can't happen in the car, so you won't see that info unless the CD is relatively new. I've only had one disc so far that has shown that info.

When you burn homemade CD's, it burns the song title, artist name, etc into the CD, so you're able to see it.

I just bought 2 DVD-A's. Neither one shows any info. They do sound great however. I just can't figure out why the newest of technology has left out something as simple as a name.
