Hi all,
Thanks for your attention. Quite a few things going on that I urgently need feedback.
Here are the events leading up to today. They may not have anything to do with each other, but I'm gonna throw it out there.
Feb 6: I sign off on a lease for a Sport MDX.
Feb 7: I get a phone call stating that my trade-in is having some odometer problems. Apparently Department of Transportation has my miles at 78,000 for a 04 Infiniti FX, when my car says 26,000. I had an emissions report that I had done at the time of registration in PA which had my miles on it at the time 24,000.
Today Feb 12: Business manager asks me to come in saying that he needs me to sign the "lease agreement." I'm like what do you mean, I signed on on the 6th. He says "the excessive mileage rate should have been 20 cents per mile, and not 15 cents per mile as stated on your previous lease papers (which is true, the ones from the 6th say 15).
so my question is...
1. Do I have to go have the papers changed? is this allowed? personally i dont think it's right how they can contact me a week later and say, we need to change the terms. it's not like I can go back to the dealership tomorrow and say, oh I need my lease terms to be changed.
2. This wouldn't have anything to do with my trade would it? If not, what if they can't get the mileage stuff straightened out with the state, any possibility that they ask for the MDX back? I received a big check as part of the trade-in, which I was hoping to use to straighten out some personal finances. Kind of afraid to use it if there is a slight possibility that they might need it back.
Any and all insight regarding this would be great.
Oh, they'll give me a tank of gas for coming in apparently. I rather ask them for a discount on my accessories I wanted to put on.
Thanks for all your help! |

If it is signed already, not much you can do about it. Ask them to take it easy!
Extra miles are worth for you if you use them any way. Just tell them "dont have time for that and also not planning to use more miles than signed up for"
See what happens. You don't need to go in. My 2 cents! |

oh, after looking over the post, I had an edit.
The business manager said that American Honda requires the excess mileage clause be 20 cents per mile. Hope that clarifies. |

Thanks for the reply.
Yea, I tried saying that I can't come in anytime soon. They offered to send my salesman to my house tomorrow 9AM! I'm like "err okay, i'll come in." So I have until tomorrow to get my story straight.
For whatever reason, they really need that lease agreement to say 20 cents per mile. Sounds more like a technicality but, just thought I'd ask around here before I signed a 2nd lease agreement. |

Looks like they used old papers or so? All that will be standard stuff like per extra mile cost. Wonder why they got it wrong first?
Make sure all other terms are same or better. Demand for it. Or get rid of end of the lease "disposition fee" or something if it is included.
Good luck. |

| hey, go to acura site www.acura.com and click current offers for MDX. Standard lease says 15 cents a mile. Why would they need 20 cents from you??? |

I don't know if they use old forms. Everything is printed out onto those pink default Acura Closed-End Vehicle Lease Agreement.
I saw the site, it says:
Lessee responsible for maintenance, excessive wear/tear and 15 cents/mi. over 10,000 miles/year for vehicles with MSRP less than $30,000, but for vehicles with MSRP of $30,000 or more, mileage cost is 20 cents/mi. over 10,000 miles/year.
So the 20 cents/mile sounds right but, 10,000 miles/year is not. Mine is supposed to be 12,000 miles/year. |
