Hello everyone. Just a note to say I found this site a few weeks ago while deciding between an RX 350 and the new X. After going to the Houston Auto Show my wife and I decided that the X was so much more car for the money. We test drove the 350 and loved it, but we are glad we waited. I was going to buy sometime this year and just sent out some feelers this week to see if I really could afford one. Without much effort, we got a Silver/Taupe Tech/Ent for $500 over invoice. Test drove it and of course fell in love with it! I asked the salesman why they would sell a new design so low. In 1999 I paid $500 just to stand in line to buy a new body style Honda Odyssey and paid sticker price because if I did not, there were 5 people waiting at the door that would. I totally expected that scenario this time around, but was told "it's a bad month" and was also told by the finance manager that we picked a good time to buy (February). All that to say that it happened so fast and I can't believe we have this beautiful machine sitting where the 8 year old van did.
Sorry for the long entro - a couple of questions.
The main question is that everytime we get in we hear what sounds like the cd changer going through some kind of setup. When you open any door you can hear what sounds like a bunch of minimotors inside the dash-is this nomal?
One more question - I am an oil changing nut and don't wait too many 1000 miles to change out to Mobil One. I see the owners manual call for 5W-20 - I have not heard of this viscosity before - does Mobil one carry this weight?
Like I wrote earlier, we have an Odyssey and found a site like this one (Odyclub.com) and learned that year had bad transmission. I have changed the ATF regularly and not had a problem for 111000 miles and plan to do the same on the X. Does anyone know yet if this can be done by the garage mechanic (I use this term loosely - that's about all I can do along with filters and spark plugs).
I look forward to any info and reading on this forum for years to come. |

We all affirm the importance of doing research, negotiating skillfully, and encouraging dealer competition for our business. But we also know that sometimes getting a fantastic deal has to do with being in the right place, at the right time, with the ability to both recognize and act on a great deal when it’s offered.
Congratulations one landing one of those almost too-good-to-be-true deals and for sharing a picture of your new ride. Welcome to the board! We're blessed with great people who generously share their experiences and offer great advice and support.
By the way, I also have a Tech/Ent MDX but I'm not hearing the noises you've described. With regard to the oil viscosity, I'm looking forward to hearing what others have to say. |

Our TL takes 5W-20, and M1 does sell it. Less is stocked than 5W-30, but major auto retailers should have it.
