Steering Wheel Vibration at 65+ MPH - Click HERE for Original Thread

We're experiencing what I will describe as a high frequency vibration in the steering wheel at 65MPH and >. The front end was recently aligned, new tires, Hunter Road Forced balanced, yet the problem continues. My mechanic re-balanced the tires with no change. He's a guy I trust and does not believe it's the tires, but does not currently have any suggestions as to what it might be. He thought it may be in the driveline but suggested that the vibration should stop when you let up on the gas at high speed.

It's not the rotors as the car stops smoothly.

I've searched and seen similar problems to mine but no posted resolution. Anybody have a similar issue and have had it resolved?

I am honestly suspecting the transmission as like many 01/02 owners, mine crapped out and was replaced with a rebuilt one (Acura would only pay 1/2).

Any ideas?

I had a similar issue on my wife's 2000 Volvo a year or so ago immediately after I purchased new GY Assurance tires and alignment. Tire dealer found that he had a batch of bad tires. Even though the tires were properly balanced, two of the tires were out of round, and he had to go through 4 more to find 2 that were round. Might be something to check if you can't find another cause.

What's the numbers on the road force? 15lb is normally the cut off point. If the force is higher, that is the problem.

If you have out of roundness tires, it can cause vib also. But if it's out of round, it will reflect on the road force measurement.

i notice mine vibrates more @ higher speeds as well, but since it changes or disappears completely depending on the road I'm on, I figure it's the road contributing to the vibration.

It's done this since new, and I have about 35K miles so far.

What stinks, is my 01 Honda Accord doesn't do this @ all, or has a much more tighter feel when steering (no vibration) and going over bumpy roads. I know, I know, different car completely, i'm just saying :p

I'd have to call my mechanic to be sure but I thought they were all under 10 with the right rear being the highest at 7. I don't know what the numbers mean or much about road force balancers, so forgive me if that doesn't sound right.
