I am trying to figure out couple of problems that I am facing with this.

1) In the Quick Guide, it's mentioned that if you want to tranfer the call from HFL to your phone, then use the voice command "Transfer", but it doesn't work. The weired part is once you pick up the call on HFL, then there is no way to transfer the call to phone and you have to complete the conversation through HFL. Is it a known issue or I am missing something?

2) When I make a call through phone and not through HFL, then I don't hear the phone ring and directly hear the person on the other side, it's very annoying. Did anyone experience it?

Thanks for any info.

I have been able to:
1) Start a call on the cell phone and "transfer" the call to the car/HFL.
2) Start a call on the car/HFL and transfer to the cell phone. (Arrive at destination and want to take the cell phone call with you.)

The only thing you need to do: Press the Voice activation button on the steeering wheel and say "Transfer" into the microphone located near the moonroof.

I don't understand your second question...

I understand question 2, because it bugs my wife to no end.

When she is in the car, and her phone is paired to the HFL, and she uses her phone (not the HFL) to dial a call, she cannot hear her phone ring once she had finished dialing. I thought she was halucinating, so I tried, and sure enough, you can't hear the phone initiated call ring. It's really odd, because you sit there wondering if the phone made the call. It's just dead silence.

If you turn off the phones blue tooth connection, so the phone is no longer connected to the HFL, then everything works fine.

Yet another flaw in what I believe is very flawed software.

My biggest gripe is the HFL audible menu not giving you the menu items when you need them. Sometimes it does, but other times it will not. No rhyme or reason. Since it's not my car, many times I can't remember the exact words it wants you to use. And there is nothing on the screen either to remind you of the magic words.

Have you tried using another cell phone and see if it works?

Handsfree Link in the MDX is a bit wonky. I noticed that it works perfectly with certain cell phones. For example, with my BlackBerry 7130 90% of the functionality works. My wife's Samsung A720 has problems pickup calls if the stereo is on. My friends Nokia 5300 works great as well...

I know that HFL website shows you what phone they have tested and certified to work with the MDX. It's worth checking that out..

I have been having the same problem.

If I make a cell call from the phone (because I can't load in my phone book) there is no indication on HFL that anything is happening.

When I try to initial a 'transfer' if tells me that there is no call in progress.

When the call completes (and someone on the other end answers) then I can use the 'transfer' command and it works.

Unfortunately, it lags behind the call and the called party has to wait.

I have been looking for a way around this but haven't found ione yet.

If anyone finds a better method I would like to know.

I guess I need to try it again the "Transfer" function, not sure why it's not working.

Is there a way to complaint about these issues to Acura and do they give software fixes for it?

Mainly I am concern with the 2nd issue:

"When I make a call through phone and not through HFL, then I don't hear the phone ring and directly hear the person on the other side, it's very annoying"

Thnx

If you dial it with your phone, you need to transfer after the call connects and starts ringing.

I called up the Acura Customer support and they told me about the 2nd problem, you won't hear the phone ring since phone is already paired to HFL. so either you disconnect the phone from HFL before you make a phone call or make a phone call through HFL. I guess we have to live with this problem then.

As to the second issue, if you use the HFL to initiate the call, do you hear ringing over the MDX speakers? I can't recall, since the MDX is my wife's.

Yes, you hear ringing over the speakers when dialing with HFL.

Dean,

The magic word is "help". try it. it then recites the available prompts.
