for reference i used to own an audi s4 prior to having twins, so the audi is my standard of comparison
dislikes
1) resolution on the nav screen. The audi and BMW navi screens BLOW AWAY the mdx nav screen. The resolution is not that great and having a screen that big only magnifies the issue.
2) The manner in which street names are displayed on the screen (angled and curvy) looks like a 3 year old wrote them in - and its looks even worse with the poor resolution screen. Again Audi and BMW have far superior display screens and map detail i find.
3) no 3-d view on navi - see above re audi/bmw
4) 5 gear tranny - when cruising on highway speeds, u really have to get on the gas to get the tranny to downshift. i find myself using the tiptronic feature more and more on the highway. i suspect that the bottleneck of the tranny may be the sh-awd differential and how the tranny output shaft works with it.....a 6 speed tranny should be mandatory for this suv
5) steering wheel. i cant decide wether the wheel is too thin or the leather is too smooth. they should have at least used perforated leather!
6) there are like 2 phones on the face of the earth that allow you to sync your phonebook with the car - how pathetic is that!
7) i link blows - BADLY!
8) as with audi, they should display audio/map info on the information display in the instrument cluster also. With the audi, you look down and you see what street you are on, and what track is being played
likes
1) japanese reliability and resale with german driving characteristics. it really drives like a euro. Outstanding!
2) 2nd row leg room is fantastic
3) i love the appearance
4) handling is fantastic (worth repeating)
5) i actually find the power to be pretty good - its the tranny that disappoints in this suv |

I agree with your dislike 1,2,4, and 6. To be honest with you, prior to the ownership of the new X I have used the Dell PDA as the Navi for my old Toyota but never bothered with its 3D even though it had this function, an unpratical bells and whistle to me.
I-link: Why even do you need it since you have 4.7GX6 as your storage? |

I have to agree that the quality of the output on the Nav screen is not the best. I actually like our Garmin Nuvi 660 better. However, the overall information that is available from the nav system is better. Just curious...how often do people need GPS. Unless I am going some place I have never been, the nav unit is more of a toy than a tool. I have used it twice in a month.
I agree on the positives, especiall the handling. For an SUV, it is awesome with reasonably good power to match. I use that every time I drive.
As far as shift points, does anyone know if there is any after-market software available to change Acura'a program? I had to adjust the shift points in my Corvette...my tuner used a program called LS1-edit. |
