Last night my friend fainted in my car and I had to get her to the hospital. Anyway, i selected the nearest hospital from the navi list choices. Anway, when i reached the destination, there was no hospital, just forest. I had to resort to calling one of my best friend and have him give me directions to a hospital near by from where I was. I reached the hospital and when I got there, I was very muych relived to hear that she was going to be okay. But a shocker i got was that if i brought her 5 minuted later, she would have died in my TL on the way there. I urge you to call Navteq for the sake of you kids, you husband, your wife, your friends, anyone that you love or care about because one day, you might have to rely on the nav to get you to the hospital and behold, it may not be there.

For those who are asking why didn't you call 911, I did, and what they said was that first, they didn't have as accurate location on me after i gave them an intersection, the location of a few shops next to me and the phone number of one of the shops. As well, they said that it would take atleast 10 minutes to get there. My friend was unconsious at this point and barely breathing. That is when i called my friend, and drove almost 95MPH in local residence where the limit was 25.

Also I was in the rental 2006 tl that i have that had a 3.60 Navi disk, which by apline, is the latest. So Please contact them so we can have more of an effect on them.

For those wondering about my friend, she is okay now resting at home. She was discharged at 3 AM today from florida hospital near Ustis.

I know going 95 in a 25 was dangerous, but she had a heart attack for cirying out loud. Just please send them a message to halp save a life one day.

I know that the MDX has new updates systems in it, so also please for your saftey, check the locations to see if the navi has the correct numbers and adresses for hospitals

Actually better way is to report the error if it's still in error here:

http://mapreporter.navteq.com/dur-w...MER&language=en

Keep in mind though that often maps can be easily 2 years outdated. It takes a while before updates go through the various channels and then end up on a new DVD (which only happens once in fall for Acura). However Navteq is actually one of the fastest and accurate in updates for the US. I think Alpine/Acura should be requested to get updates more up to date and perhaps more frequent...

I certainly also have experienced my share of map errors with GPS systems over the years. However vast majority of the time the map is very accurate and you were very unfortunate - especially in such tough situation - to encounter such error.

PS my '07 MDX does not list yet my 2 year old street so some streets definitely take some time to show up (navteq.com though does list it for quite a while...).

What i noticed that navteq did was that they updated the locations of the burger kings and mcdonalds, but they did not update the location of a hospital, which is so much more important than a burger king, come on!!What they sould be doing is automaticly check the locations of hospitals and police stations reguradless of contacting them with updated info.

I'm not an expert on how updates get to navteq but I think it's unlikely Navteq contacts these instances directly.

I would think they get these from city hall or some other official registration database.

Did you report the error? Definitely good to do so. If they fix it it will still take until end of this year before updates make it to the Acura DVD's.
I wish you could get a live subscription or get updates directly from the internet.

having a database that updates navi's instantly would be awesoe. It could eliminate the hassel of spending and wait for a new disk, make it easier for us, and also probably save us the headache of not findng our destination
