We brought home our 2007 MDX with Tech and Ent last Friday. I've tried to digest the manual and quick start guide but still need some "boiled down" for girls type guidance.
1) How do I play the sound portion of a movie over the speakers so that we don't have to use the headphones?
2) Do you use the DVD player or CD player to play audio DVDs? If you have to use the DVD player, how do I make that happen, obviously over the speakers?
3) I had the running boards (regular, not sport) installed yesterday. I am not thrilled and am wondering if they can be adjusted somehow. There is a +/- 1 inch gap between the body and the end moldings. Looks weird. Plus, it is impossible for me at 5'6" to get out of the X without hitting my calf on the boards. Thoughts?
4) We got the X for $2,500 under MSRP. Did we get a decent deal? |

Welcome aboard! Some of your questions have been discussed in previous threads if you do a search. I'll try to answer some.
If you're having trouble playing a DVD, you may not have the fuse for the ENT system properly inserted, as some members have noted. If the movie plays but there is no audio, it may simply be a matter of pressing the "Front Source" button and selecting "DVD".
As has been noted in a prior thread, there may be a subtle difference playing a DVD-A on the 6-disc versus the DVD player. I just pop it in the 6-disc so I can switch between discs more conveniently..
There shouldn't be a big gap in the running boards. Have your dealer inspect it. If you don't like the way it protrudes, you may just uninstall them and sell them. |

| If you are having all of these questions then your salesperson obviously did not do a good job on the test drive or at delivery. You should go back to your salesperson and have them show you all of the features until you are comfortable in using them. There are lots of gadgets and features on the car that are wasted if you do not know how to use them. |

To this I'd add the following: When you have any type of DVD playing in your rear entertainment system, the rear speakers will naturally default to the "off" position. You can override that by holding in the "Rear Power" button for around 2 seconds. You will need to do this wheneve you change your front source, or restart the car since the rear speakers will default back to the "off" position.
Alternatively, you can press the "Rear Source" button, and then hit DVD, which will set your rear speakers to play whatever is in the dvd player at the time. |

If these are the wide, all black running boards, then they installed them incorrectly. I had a 1/4 to 1/2 inch gap on mine. I reinstalled them myself. I found that they placed the attachment brackets directly on some overspray underneath the car (which they were supposed to remove per the instructions). They also over torqued the inner facing nuts which also added to the gap. Have them redo it.
Also, the only way you are going to keep from hitting your calves when you get out is to actually step on the board sideways. My wife, who is 5'3", steps on the board sideways, using all her foot to get out without a problem. I'm 6', and I noticed the calf thing when I got out without stepping on the side board. Put it to use getting out as well.
Hope this helps.
