Happened to notice that someone is selling steps on Ebay. It says:
For sale are the black tube type side steps for the Acura 2001 MDX. These are original Honda Parts, with the Acura name on the boards.
Currently they are going for $50 with the reserve met. You've got nine days if you are interested.

Ebay MDX Black Steps Auction

If the deal is for real, emazing offer. It sounds almost too good to be true. Although there are infinite scam artist on ebay.

This deal seems to be legit....I checked it out. I even decided to place a bid, but then decided "nah, I'll let somebody else here get the deal, I already have a few sets :)"

Be careful on shipping, tho. I'd get a quote from the seller, so it's not one of those "$100 for the steps, $300 s/h" deals. As a guide I pay anywhere from $25-$75, depending on where the person lives.

That's the info someone here needs. I looked at it too, but I already own a set of Manik's. First think I thought of was, "I wonder what Tim pays for shipping these".

Tim's the man! :D

Now the same person is selling an MDX hitch assembly, with an opening price of $25 and a current bid of $51. Tim, you gotta find out what truck this person has hijacked! We'd (well, at least I'd) rather buy from you.

Strangely enough, this person has a CL spoiler up dirt cheap too.

Hey, grab it while you can....like I said, I'd obviously be willing to buy at these prices, but I'd rather see you get the deal. Just if you plan to bid, don't get get caught up in a sniping war at the last minute. It's going to cost you $50-$125.00 to ship the hitch plus coolers.

There was one dealer who was selling on eBay last week (you gotta monitor the competition, ya know), and started the bidding ridiculously low. When the auctions closed, he lost money on a couple of them and made about $3.00 each on a couple of others. Did anyone here win any bids from him? I'm curious what he ended up charging for S&H.

Oddly enough, eBay is where Hondacuraworld first started. And, if it wasn't for cotmc posting on Edmunds' Town Hall about my auctions, Hondacuraworld might never be what it is. I hope I meet him one day, along with dfc101a, zonn, and wmquan, four MDX owners to whom I owe a great deal of thanks.

Tim,

I bid on two of those items (wood dash and cargo tray). I didn't get either. I think the wood dash went pretty cheap (but I was asleep when it sold). The cargo tray was too close to your price and I figured I'd rather buy from you. Then you had your scratch and dent sale and I got it from you anyway :D

Yeah, the last minute sniping is a killer, as can be shipping.

I also have a Mazda Miata and monitor the forum on miata.net. Several weeks ago the police in Davis, CA caught a guy who was stealing Miata parts right off cars parked on the street and selling them on ebay. One of the victims saw the auctions and got suspicious because they looked like his stolen parts, he then call the police and took them quite some time to catch the guy in the act. Turned out this guy also frequent the Miata forum.

I don't mean to alarm anyone but just thought I throw this one out there.

Hi, Tim! :D Next time I travel back to Ashtabula, Ohio, I might take my wife and son on a drive across the Peace Bridge and to Niagra Falls. Is that dealership of yours far from I-90?
hondacuraworld
Actually, if I look between the trees I can see the I90 from the front of the dealership. If you have some time I'd love to give you a personal tour of the area and take you out for Buffalo's best chicken wings! After all, if it wasn't for you, where would I be? :D

For all those that are curious, check Edmunds Town Hall, Acura MDX IV, post #169.

Hey Cotmc. If you drive back to Ashtabula there would finally be another MDX around. Kind of lonely here (MDX wise).:)
cotmc
Niles, I posted a message to you awhile ago in the "Acura Roadside Assistance vs. AAA" thread regarding our Ashtabula connection.

Yep, I was born and mostly raised in Ashtabula -- the Saybrook area, to be exact. I moved out of Ohio during the late 70's, but I always enjoy coming back to that area. I am always captivated by how everything is so green and lush. Compared to Phoenix, most of northeast Ohio seems like a remote section of New England!

I do enjoy cross-country driving, but I suspect that my next visit will be via air travel. Although I would argue that air travel cannot achieve the level of safetiness of the MDX :D, it certainly cuts down on travel time. Hence, even when I am visiting, you still might be the only MDX in town! :(

I think you would be right here where you are now! :) I may have helped accelerate your exposure by a few days, but you ultimately couldn't help but succeed among these MDX enthusiasts with your great attitude and very good prices! :D

Don't forget, if I buck my "car of the month club" historical (and hysterical) trend, and hold onto this MDX for a few years, you'll be the first person I contact regarding an extended warranty!

The last time I flew back to Ohio (in 1999), I took my wife up north of Peterborough, Ontario for a couple nights in a cabin along the Madawaska River. With your offer of the "best wings in Buffalo", I just might have to introduce our new son to Buffalo and Ontario next year! :)
