2002 MDX Transmission Slipping - Click HERE for Original Thread

I own a 2002 MDX bought 6 months from a small dealership (Kino Auto) in Westminster, CA. Just last month, my transmission started slipping in 2nd, 3rd gears and it would stall on reverse. It would Jerk suddenly while normal driving, with RPM revving up to 4/5.

Friends and family warned me about 2001-2002 MDX transmission recalls so I got a case going with Honda Client Services. They said my VIN isn't under their recall warranty but I should get a diagnostic from an Acura dealer if I wanted assistance.

I got the diagnostic done last week and faxed it. Then I get a call telling me it isn't under warranty and they aren't going to help. We both knew this before they recommended I get it diagnosed - I could have taken it elsewhere, but now I'm out $170 from the diagnostic plus a broken transmission, no car and no help.

After reading about the transmission recalls, problems and issues on this forum and elsewhere, it sounds like this isn't only my problem. I think Honda and Acura has reason to be reputable companies but this experience has been really rough on their image.

My car hasn't hit 100K miles and even if it did, it sounds like a Manufacturer defect if there are so many around the same year screwing up ... WHETHER OR NOT the VIN was under their recall warranty.

I don't think I should be paying for a transmission that Honda apparently messed up on. With the quote at $5000 I can't afford it either. Any help or information is appreciated.
