Has anyone noticed around 35/40 mph the transmission
" dropping " into 5th gear ... it almost feels like it stalls for a second .. the whole truck shakes?
I told the dealer about it last time I was in and he said " Its fine " then he said " it may be the transmission shifting from 5th to 4th ". I told him I did not think thats what was happening but I would drive it more to check. It is still doing the same thing. This does not happen when accelerating hard, it is almost like your resuming speed and the transmission goes into 5th.

TECK: I hope that you are taking very copious notes with all the problems that you have. I would tend to think that you must have a lemon as you seem to find significant things that only you have reported. Document well as that is your best defense later if you decide to go into arbritration for a new rig.

I may be mistaken but I don't believe 5th kicks in until around 45. I see the tach drop but don't feel a thing.
Good luck!! |

Oh brother, TECK, not AGAIN!?!?!
The previous posts reflect my experience as well re: shifting, and I would second the recom. to document everything. Are you still considering a lemon law claim? If not, you might want to reconsider if the techs can't make an adequate adjustment.

I was estimating the speed .. so maybe its between 40-45 .. I really was not paying attention to the speedometer but had the windows open trying to hear any odd noises. and yes GHM I hate to sound like a whiner but I wanted to check to see if this is my new problem or if anyone has had the same.
Im sure you all know how long it takes to go through all the lemon law BS but im still on track. Right now its back in Acura's court and im waiting to see if I will get a hearing sometime in September ( per the BBB guy ).
Right now im waiting for the dealer to call me back so I can get a new backseat, new hood bumper , and new front nose assembly. :(

Teck:
If all this experience makes you do is whine a little (which you're not), Acura should count it's lucky stars. I would venture to guess that most of us here would have driven that rig through the front doors of American Honda and parked it on the chest of the nearest exec. Good luck w/ the LL and BBB efforts.

Trammie Trouble Now
I just got a call from the dealership service department. The Service rep told me that they were able to duplicate the problem with my truck and he had the head mechanic in the truck with him at the time... they both felt it he said.
He told me it may be the torque converter and that he wants to keep it another day for more testing before they start to repair it.
Great .. now I get a rebuilt engine and a rebuilt transmission. arent I the guinepig. Sheesh!

I know ATL ..
Im just glad that the service department actually got the problem to happen. It was so intermittent that I thought they would think im just being picky from all the problems ive had. I explained the problem to the guy in service like this:
Your driving a manual transmission and you shift from first gear to second gear to fifth gear ... the whole truck shakes.
Im looking forward to hearing what Acura will say about all this.
