An interesting fact I've found in the 6 years since buying a 2001 MDX and 2001 Integra GSR new from the dealer: The best way to keep the plexiglass clean on your instrument display is to NEVER TOUCH IT WITH ANYTHING! Ever.
Through initial casual neglect, and then studied curiosity, I've managed to never clean or wipe the gauge cluster screen in my Teg and it looks as perfect now as the day I drove it off the lot. No static, no scratches. On the other hand, during normal interior detailing, I wiped the MDX cluster a few times and it's never looked the same - the super-fine scratches started showing and it keeps picking up dust over time.
This works only for new cars, of course, but try to resist the urge to wipe, and don't let your detailing shop do it either. |

evoge,
Okay, I'll bite. Q: If you never touch the gauge cluster, then how do you clean the inevitable dust that collects on them? |

My theory is that dust is attracted only by the static created by wiping with a towel.
Honestly, the Integra plexiglass is absolutely clear and dust-free, like it's not even there, even though the rest of the interior is beyond dusty since I have to park by a big sawdust pile at a charcoal plant every day -- now that's an extreme test! |
