The backup camera in my 06 MDX w/ navi does not disconnet when in drive. Did any one encounter this problem?
Thanks! |

| haha! I don't blame you. I have a premium '06, so I'm not sure. Hopefully some other experts will chime in. Take it to the dealer(I know its a pain) but it should be under warranty. Let me know how it goes! =D |

I took it twice to the dealer. They were very nice but said they have never seen this happen before.
So, the first time, the car had 2K on it and they changed the navi computer and CD. That worked for a few months and then the problem came back again. This time, with 5k on the car, they are ordering some cable parts for the camera!!
Not sure if that will fix it. |

| correction... not cable parts. The dealer replaced the navi controller again and said that the Acura tech line has this issue flagged in their system... |

| replacement drive unit should slove the problem. As on a side note, have a good buddy turn the car on and put it in drive, are the reverse lights still on? |

I just had the same problem today with my '06. I shifted from Reverse to Drive started to drive. The backup camera kept displaying the rear view! It confused the hell out of me for a second. It lasted a few seconds before correcting itself.
Oddly, and I don't know if this is connected or not, but the Nav is now asking me for the 4-digit code! Of course, I don't have it since it was purchased used from a dealer who never got the code either! |

| I have a -06 also and had this happen to me once since i had the car for almost a year now. I backed up the camera turned on but after shifting into drive the camera did not disengage. strangely the nav map could be shown on top of the camera images. strange indeed. but after pulling over and shutting down the car for a few minutes and starting up it was fine. since then no issues (knock on wood), maybe a loose connection or computer error? |

This happened today to me in my '06 with about 12,000 miles.
I've owned two MDX's with backup cameras and today was the first time anything like this has happened. (50,000 miles on the first one, 12,000 miles on our second one)
While the backup screen did not disengage in drive, the street name, icon button, and compass view (which are part of the map screen) DID show up.
Should I take it to the dealership? I stopped the car and restarted it, and it went away. I'm not sure I'm going to be able to recreate it. |
