I recently came off the 3 month freebie with XM and like most on this forum I called in to use the winback 77, while further noting my desire to be billed.
Well I just received my first bill and noticed a $2 "processing fee" tacked on. Essentially they are billing me for the privilege of billing me!!!! WTF? :3:
Has anyone else had this tacked onto their own XM bills? |

| 16 cents a month doesn't seem too bad. Just be glad they didn't tack on a more substantial subscription fee - it's in the small print that XM can add it on at their discretion. |

| Don't get me wrong - I can swing the $2 - it's more the principle that I'm referring to. Sometimes I think companies simply invent language to nickle and dime the customers. Kinda like the loose language thrown in auto or real estate deals, which you need to be aware of ahead of time, to accurately dispute or refuse outright. |

| Just look at it as the daily wage XM paid to some unfortunate underpaid soul working two jobs in some third world country (one of which is to man the customer service line) and you'll feel better. :) |

It's probably the daily toll to commute down the Panama Canal, since every operator I've ever spoken with is from Panama City.:1: |

| I did a double take as well. What a crock of crap... Nickel and dime you to death. |

Yes ... and I also hate this nickel and dime stuff! |

I think this is becoming more common practice as companies are charging their customers to receive paper bills. Then you might be more likely to setup an e-bill on your account and remove the charge.
IMHO, if they were to offer a discount of 1-2% each month to have the bill emailed to me, I would do it. |

What gets me are the commercials all of a sudden and they are increasing in number and frequency.
I have had XM since 2004 when it was commercial free and I am beginning to think it is nt worth it anymore even at the lower prices. just today in one hour I heard commercials for 6 different products, oh and call 1-800-xxx-xxxx three or four times for each commercial, the absence of these is what made XM so wonderful in the beginning. |

Yeah- I find that I have to avoid Channel 22 now with all the commercials. If commercials penetrate my favorite channels (like 54), I'll vote with my feet.
There may be a drive to increase XM's revenues in the short term to beef up their value in a Sirius/XM merger. |

I agree 100%. I commented to my wife about this the other day. The whole idea behind paying for radio was *because* it had no commercials. And XM was really good about that. For the longest time the only commercials I ever heard were promos for other XM shows/channels, which I can live with. But over the last three months I too have noticed an increase in 'real' commercials. If this keeps up, this will be my last renewal for XM. |

hi
was kinda shocked to read this post i've been using sirius for my other car and i don't remember any commercials always worked great Not happy about commercials no wonder they got 'merged'
i think the dealer didn't activate my 'free' 3 months wich there suposed to also wave the activation fee kinda surprized that i have to pay for commercials whats the point? but i'll call xm to goose it tommrrow
i do hope that sirius rules this merger and they just give us all more channels and no commercials pooey
gotta tell you if i hear too many commercials during that trial 3months be it for me
i'll then ask if anyone hacked a sirius into the mdx 07 i know on the bmw lots of folks said they can just plug in a xm unit and it worked fine from the same nav unit |

I read on another XM forum that Clear Channel is a major stockholder in XM and one of the things they required as an owner was control of content of some of the XM channels. In July 2006, through some type of previous arrangement/contract, XM was required to start letting Clear Channel control the content on their own channels, which included the running of commercials. Supposedly the story goes XM wasn't happy about it, but they got a bunch of their start-up money from CC and it was a written contact they are now being forced to uphold. However, XM is supposedly duplicating the content of the CC channels on similar channels of their own and offering those up commercial-free. For those who want to avoid the commerical channels, there are six:
11 - Nashville (Today's Country)
21 - KISS (Top 40)
22 - Mix (Variety/Adult Hits)
24 - Sunny (Soft Pop Oldies)
161 - WSIX (Nashville Country)
173 - WLW (Talk & Information)
The other channels may still carry XM promotional ads, but no product/services ads. |

thanks for the that info i feel alot better-er now
i'll mentally block those channels
wonder what will happen once xm/serius merge on a electronic level, if we will expect more channels and or other cool stuff or more like business usual i couldn't seem to find any info on that |

Look here for more information regarding the winback77 code, which allows you to renew your XM subscription for another year at $77. |
