2007 MDX, Nimbus Gray
Wow is this car sweet or what? It is for my wife.

Sport with Entertainment + Body Side Mouldings $535.00 over invoice. (using Edmunds.com)
The only downside to the deal was the "MANDATORY" 697.00 charge for wheel locks, mud flaps, and cargo tray. I could not get out of it as much as I tried, part of the prep process. I know it is BS, but it was late also so I ran with it.

Additionally, this dealer puts the sport boards and luggage rack on the car, they wanted almost 4 GRAND for this (Labor charge + parts) I did the homework and new how absurd the price was so I declined and they said to bring it back and they would remove, here is where it gets interesting....

I found the accessories online ebay at DCH Acura of Temecula, this is where we live. So tomorrow the wife will pick up the parts and take them with her to get the car prepped and to remove the accessories, BUT we will hand them the NEW PARTS and save them the time!

So I did not really loose anything on the deal, free install on the accessories as well.

:welcome: troye,
So basically about $1000 over invoice. Not bad. So did you pay $4000 for the accessories upfront and now you will get a check when you bring them back? I don't see how you declined this but they are still on the vehicle. Let us know how it goes with returning the parts.

Was there anything in your paperwork that INCLUDED the $4K in accessories? Was that amount removed frm the final total? Was it noted ANYWHERE in the paperwork that you were to return and have the items removed from the vehicle? Are the parts you are going to attempt to give them EXACTLY the same as what's on the car? Why did you accept custody of the car with the unwanted parts, unless, of course, there's no mention of them on the final paperwork. If there is no mention of them, and no mention of your returning to have the non-mentioned parts removed, why are you returning at all?

Curious minds want to know! Please keep us posted.

Thanks for the WELCOME! That is so cool.
Well not really 1,000.00 over invoice (not to beat a dead horse, but make myself feel better), no you are right really.

Subtract the real cost of the accessories and add to balance to the purchase that was over invoice makes it about one 1K over.

BUT
if you calculate the time it will take to install the roof rack and the side rails, my guess is the time it would take me is worth the extra 500.00 bux or even more, so...maybe it is less then 500.00 over invoice? LOL

I guess this dealer is known for putting on accessories and then making you negotiate with the accessories, BUT I REFUSED. So they let us take them home on the car and agree and in writing to bring the car back to have them removed. Since they are installed already I will (if I have to) tell them that the ones in the boxes / opened are theirs and I removed them and put on my own.

YOU ARE RIGHT, I should have been firm / hard a$$ about the price that was agreed to in writing, they committed themselves to my reqested price and really did not acknowledge it!

I am not completly sure if the accessories were included in the window /sticker price as I was not even considering them to begin with, then I thought they would throw them in for a slight mark up but not 4k! I came to know it was 4k when my loan numbers (had pre approval already) were being crunched, and of course they tried to add an additional 1K to the price...by mistake he said...SURE and I can fly too

Maybe you could have negotiated the accessories at cost and saved both of you the trouble. But hey, if the stealer wants to go through the hassle, so be it.

I did try that as well, was willing to pay a couple hundred over cost, but their LABOR charge they would loose.

Does not make sense, obviously they were harassing me a bit since it is costing them more in Labor costs now to remove.

We had to bring it back in for Prep anyway, so it is no skin of my back.

Great choice! :D I just got a Nimbus Gray Sport Ent also last week. Paid about $600 over invoice, but I had to do a trade-in. I figured either way the dealer was gonna get something. Anyway it's a GREAT car! :2: As for accessories, I've made a few orders online and plan to spend a day or two installing them.

I'm also very interested in what happens when you return to the dealer. I get bad vibes about this dealer just reading your posts. $4,000 for a couple of accessories? LOL

Was there also by any chance a DOC or processing fee?

Installing the roof rack and running boards can't be worth all that much. Otherwise, they'd cost more as factory options with other manufacturers.

Folks, END THE END WE DID PREVAIL!!!

Very long story, I will post it but not until tomorrow as I am on my way to church now.

It was escalated to the owner himself (and btw he did not do anythng!)

Here is the breakdown (makes me feel better) in regards to over invoice real quick

500.00 over orig invoice
400.00 overcharge on accessories (muds, tray, locks - but installed by dealer)
So I am at 900.00 over invoice at this point
Subtract approx 200-225.00 for the body side mouldings as part of the deal
Now I am down to 700.00 over invoice.

According to Acura, to install the roof and the sport steps we are talking about 600-700.00 of labor.

So in the end...invoice + 100 or something like it. I am very satisfied with that.

To answer, NO we did not pay for the (unwanted - rack, steps) accessories up front, it was on the due bill to bring them back, that is where it gets fun. Stay tuned I will post the episode
