how frequent does the 2007 MDX need service? The dealer says no tune up for 100K miles, but what about after that?

How frequent are the oil changes?

In my other cars, the oil changes & minor/major tune ups alternate in 15K mile intervals. I love the 15K mile oil change because I drive a lot & would be getting an oil change every 1.5 moths if i had to change every 3K miles.

The MID should tell you when the car needs service.

Yes, but how often are the intervals? I know it depends on driving style etc.. but where does it start? 3000 mi? 5000mi? 15000 mi.?

Sounds like you need to get with your salesman to show you how everything works on your (presumably new) 07.

The MID does tell you when it's time to change but I don't know what algorithms it uses based on your driving style and oil characteristics.

Just as a point of reference, my MID oil status was showing 30% at about 5000 miles in mixed 60% highway and 40% city driving. Since I was going on a long road trip I had the oil changed early despite the service advisor's initial hesitation.

There is sort of a guide in your owner's manual (I know it's one of, if not the thickest out there) as to the oil changes and maintenance etc. Don't let your enthusiasm be stifled by the RTFM replies here. Just please don't start another dino versus synthetic or regular versus premium thread. We've had just about enough of that. :D

.

Maintenance schedule on the MDX is approximately the same as, or better than, every other vehicle on the road.
Oil change is required at 7,500 miles nominally. Manual says change the filter every other oil change. (I believe that's absurd, and I always have the filter changed when oil is changed). VTM fluid and transmission fluid get changed at about 30,000 mile intervals. You may have to change one of them at 15K, and then 45K. I change every 5K miles, since it's easy to remember.
The 07 has an Oil Life indicator that tells you when to actually change the oil based on the driving that has occurred since last change. It also has other maintenance reminders built in.
There are also brakes to inspect, tires to rotate, other fluids to fill, etc, etc.
The 100,000 mile service is a major service, like most other vehicles. Spark plugs and timing belt are the minimum. Water pump is sometimes replaced while you're at it.

Thanks for the info, sounds like its a pretty low maint. vehicle. Sorry for the confusion, I dont have an MDX yet, but am considering one, I have updated my signature to hopefully avoid future confusion.

Updating your signature may not help. Most people do not read signatures before drafting a reply.

I would suggest that for future questions you state in the beginning that you are a "looker."
