just purchased a 2007 mdx without sport
I seem to get a low frequency thump while driving
especially over rough pavement.
It is coming from the rear of the vehicle
and is giving me a headache.
Anyone else with this problem?
thanks,

| Yes. I have noticed the same problem. Seems to be coming from the right rear suspension/tailgate area. Haven't checked it out while someone else is driving to see exactly where it is coming from. |

yeah. exactly.
I took it to the stealership and their answer
was that they all do it.
I wnated to drive another vehicle
to see if they were the same, but didnt have
the time |

| I have the same sound coming from the rear --very annoying!! I have tried removing the spare tire but it did not help..I am thinking about under-coating the rear area under and around the spare tire .i.e. from the rear bumper up to the rear axle..I think this is something that Acura should do to help eliminate this holler thumping sound ...I have written about this in a previous thread and received several complaints from new owners with the same problem..otherwise, I am happy with the car, so far.. |

| Like everyone else mine does it as well. I call to the stealership and you get the company line... They all do that it is nothing to worry about and we will let you know if there is a fix. |

| I've ruled the tank out whether full/half or low.....noise if coming from the axel in the rear...... |

| My wife sat on the right side second seat tonight while traveling and said she felt the ride to be much ruffer feeling like a stiff shock absorber ...could the shocks be too stiff for the rear end which is causing more of a thumping sound when travelling over bumpy roads. I've always said that it sounds like a shock bottoming out when going over bumps.. |

Best way to do this:
Turn radio OFF
Go over speed bump IN comfort mode and when it bounces you hear it. I don't seem to hear it as profound in "Sport" setting or if any at all.....  |

i asked the dealer to take a look at this problem when i was getting my rear lower garnish installed. they told me this is normal characteristic of the car. the dealer told me there is an air flap on both sides of the car and is what's causing the sound.
you can also hear the sound when you close the rear doors. put your ear near the side of the rear bumper and close the door shut. |
