Guys. I plan to buy a 2007 MDX technology package (Without NAVigation). I See in Edmunds 42K is the average MSRP price in the market. Any tips on negotiating this car. What is the best price for this car.

Do a search... there have been multiple discussions on different prices in different parts of the country.

You cannot get a tech without navigation. We expect to pay 42,000 for a Sport (which includes tech, hence navi).

My sister in law just paid $42,000 for a tech/ent package. This include desitnation charge. I believe the price was about $100 under invoice. We pitted one dealership against the other and I guess the dealership in Stockton, CA wanted our business more. Do a search on Google to get a better understanding on invoice and dealer holdback. Great info to know! The longer the dealer keeps a car on the lot, the more money they have to put out. The sooner the dealer sells a car, they can keep the dealer holdback they paid from the invoice price as profit.

Go for the tech/ent. Many people on the board are getting it for $500 over invoice. Remember, it doesn't hurt to ask. If they don't like it, walk. They will come running or you can try again at another dealership.

Hi Dejavu
Thanks a ton for your insight. I m in NJ and finally able to lockdown the price of Tech Package ACURA MDX for $41,500, includes the destination. I Guess thats the maximum the dealer can go. But when i looked around thats the best price i see in my area so far.

Thanks

$41,500 for the tech without entertainment sounds a bit high to me. Invoice price is $39,433 + 670 destination= $40,103. Even if you offerred $500 over invoice, that would still only come out to $40,603. I think you can get it for lower than $41,500. That's about $1,400 over invoice. Don't worry too much about what you see others are paying from these websites. Just worry about what you are willing to pay.

Also, if you go to edmunds.com you can request for dealer quotes. I put in my zip code and email address and checked every box with a dealership around me. I also stated that I was ready to buy within 24hrs so they would rush to send me a price quote and fight for my business. In the morning I had dealerships sending me emails with price quotes. I used these price quotes for myself as well as to help my sister in law get the best deal for her tech/ent.

One last tip, when you actually go to the dealership and negotiate, remind all the dealerships that you are not in any rush to buy, when they make you a good deal is when you decide to buy. Your just here to see what you can get and waste their time until they come up with a number you like. Hopefully they will get the hint and take your offer. Whatever you do, don't budge on your offer. The price you pay for the car is sometimes the price you give them when you are walking out the door.

I think you can still get a lower price, especially in Jersey. Try to get them to give you some accessories too.
Good luck!

Well I'm glad the prices keeps continuing to go down for you. I bet if you went in there and said let's do the deal now and offer $40,500 and not budge, they would probably take it. Tell them either I walk out of here with a car and you can make a couple hundred bucks or I can walk out of here and you can make nothing. Good luck!
