Okay, so I purchased my MDX back on 10/30/06 not knowing about the tranny problems. Husband did the 3x fluid flush last month and slipping is occuring 2nd and 3rd gear. After reading the forums, I called Acura directly. Found out my particular vehicle had the jet kit installed 12/04. Customer relations told me to go to the dealership to have a diagnostic run ($110). Then they said that if they do find a problem that it will be covered, but I will just be out the diagnostic cost.
I called David McDavid Acura in Plano, TX and set up my appointment for tomorrow morning. They are also providing a loaner car. I have taken detailed notes about everyone I have talked to and information provided. I hope that this will be a fairly painless ordeal. I love my MDX! And I am a die hard Honda girl. As long as they take care of this, I will continue to be one!
Thought I would share details for anyone else that might experience the same thing.

Alright, service called back and said it was bad ECR valve and they would cover the cost/labor for that but suggested "cleaning the ports" which is an additional $200. I haven't done a search yet on this because I wanted to post first to see if anyone had additional info.
Oh, I am on hold with Acura Client Services just checking up on this. Don't want the dealership to be blowing smoke up my butt. |

How many miles is the vehicle? Acura extended the EGR warranty to 80K miles IIRC. As long as it's not the tranny you should be in good shape.
I have to check the manual but I don't think cleaning the EGR port is part of routine maintenance but may be needed if the dealer found it to be clogged. |

Alright, we are going to go ahead and get it done, so if something comes up with the transmission we can go back and say "look, we did what you said and it still didn't work". My X has 82,5xx and I just bought it on 11/06 (unfortunately not knowing the extent of these probs :rolleyes: ). Going to look into getting the transmission cooler as well, we don't tow anything, but figure it can't hurt????
Also talked to Acura, please make sure to get case number any time you called because they didn't document my call yesterday so I do not have any way proving that they said they would cover the cost of the transmission :mad: and I made the call from work, so I don't have the phone log to show proof. God, I hope it is not the transmission. They said they drove it for 20 miles and nothing came up (other than the EGR). So, I guess we will see???? |
