Good evening, everyone.
Been a while since I've posted, but my Check Engine light came on yesterday (Acura MDX 2004), with the following OBD II code: P2610
This was interpreted as:
ECM/PCM Internal Engine Off Timer Performance
What does that mean? Reason I ask is I live >1 hour away from the dealer, but car is still under warranty. If this is an inexpensive repair, I'll have it done locally, but time is, after all money, so I'd rather save the 2 hours. If it is likely to require an expensive repair, I'd rather have the warranty cover it.
Thanks for any and all help.

| All I know is that ECM stands for "Engine Control Module" and PCM stands for "Power-train Control Module" Probably don't want to mess with that issue and get it check by the dealer quick. |

Thanks; that's the conclusion I was coming to. My local mechanic says he won't touch it, so back to the dealer. I'll let everyone know what that code means, though, as soon as I find out.

That is a rare code. Are you experiencing any other problems ?
You could reset it and see if it reappears but since its under warranty you might want to check with the dealer first.
If it reappears you might want to get it checked right away. |

Well, I took the car to the dealer yesterday, and the report I got was that the engine computer had to be replaced - but they didn't have one in stock, so I have to go back next week to have it replaced. The service form specifically said:
Tested and found the PCM is shorted.
The only other problem I've noted is that my cruise control buttons are working funny; ie, I'll hit the resume button, but it won't resume the previous speed. I'll wait until they replace the PCM, and see if that fixes the cruise control or not. They said it was OK, but I'll try to keep the card to light use.

Oops, almost forgot. The service sheet also said:
Found Code P2610. PCM Ignition off timer performance.
So, at least on a 2004 MDX, the official code is not that different from the one I read on my OBD II unit.
