(Reposting from General Discussion)
Hello all,
I have be reading this forum for a few years and I finally got myself a login name. I need your advice on how to proceed with a problem on our 2002 MDX. I took it in to the dealer to read the "Check Engine" code. Result P0730. I saw some other posts here about it being a gear ratio error. The vehicle has about 68000 miles on it.
Just got the call from the dealer saying I need a new tranny ($5000). Do any of you who have been through this process have any advice on how to approach the dealer to negotiate a reduced fee?
thanks for your help in advance,
Mike |

| I hate to say this but if you've been around for a few years you're probably familiar with the search function by now. Several members have posted on their trials and tribulations and mostly successful attempts at having the transmission replaced free or at reduced cost. Escalating to Acura corporate usually does the trick if the dealer is unwilling to cover the cost. You might end up paying for labor, if anything. Good luck! |

Go immediately to Acura corporate, don't even mess with the dealership in "negotiating" b/c when I called Acura yesterday about possible transmission problems they told me"we will cover it if it comes up with transmission failure codes".

Well, I just got off the phone with them, and this really sucks. BE SURE TO GET A CASE NUMBER as I did not know this yesterday what the girl told me is NOT documented. The person I spoke to just 5 minutes ago gave a different answer. However, I still think going through Acura to start is the better way.
Sorry for the conflicting info. :( |
