Passenger Airbag Off Warning Message - Click HERE for Original Thread

My MDX, just like my 04 Honda Accord, has that amber passenger airbag off warning light on the dashboard. When the seat sensor detects something the seat lighter than an average person, the airbag is automatically turned off and the indicator illuminates on the dash. No problem there.

The MDX takes this a step further and posts a warning meassge on the Nav screen. I have to choose "check now or later" on the screen. This message creates an envelope icon on the screen so I have to access the message, request to clear it, then confirm clearing the message. Is all this necessary to inform me that the airbag is turned off? Why can't the amber dash light be enough?

Is there any way to disable the Nav screen message? Every morning, the light goes on when I put my laptop case on the seat and I have to go through this routine to clear the message.

Thoughts?

I'm sure it's legal crap to avoid liability.

I wish we could just get that and the OK message on the nav screen every time I start my MDX gone too.

It sounds like you have the Acuralink options set to notify you (and Acura) of problems. I think it's in the Setup screen somewhere. If you don't care about Acuralink, turn the messages off.
I keep mine off, because I don't want my vehicle ratting me out to Acura. It uses the phone you've linked to HFL, and dials Acuralink to tell them about diagnostic messages, what you had for lunch, if it caused flatulence, and how fast you've been driving.

I keep it in plain site and it seems to me it would be obvious if it were dialing?

Hmmm...

You would know if the phone was dialing because you set that up in the menus. If you didn't set anything up, you need not worry.
