MusicLink Returned? - Click HERE for Original Thread

So I have been attempting to get my dealership to "buy back" my MusicLink because it does not work correctly. I knew what it was supposed to do before I bought it, but it really does not work. I was at the dealership today and the service manager said that they had discontinued the MusicLink until 2008 or 2009, because it did not work correctly. (duh)

Has anyone successfully gotten a refund or accessory credit or anything? It does not make good since to me if something does not work and they discontinue it why they cannot give me some credit. Am I being unreasonable?

They will be releasing a new iPod interface for the 2008 model year. Not sure yet if they will be compatible with pre-2008 vehicles, so the Musiclink may not be totally phased out.

We stopped selling the Music Link almost 8 months ago due to the same issues. As a "Precision Team" dealership we gladly refunded a customers money that was not happy with the system. Your delaership should refund your money without much hassle.

Thanks for the input... I have talked to the sales manager and he wants to try another musiclink that they have in stock. If that one does not work, he will "try to work something out."

Thanks again.

F-- the "work something out" business. MusicLink is crap. I ordered it on my X and after using it for a day, took it back and demanded that they remove it and refund my money. The gladly obliged after I ran through a 'demo' of the product. It's useless and embarassing for Acura to have even let this turd out of the bag.

Okay, I realize that was harsh, and I'm typically more subtle about my criticisms, but really, this is an awful product. You should have no problem getting the refund, as there are almost no users that I've seen here that are actually satisfied with it.

I read about how it worked in this forum prior to picking up my new X but after they had installed it. I forwarded them the link and told them how crappy it is. The dealer stated to me that they didnt know much about it when I bought it as it was fairly new here (canada). They actually left mine installed but gave me a refund.

All it is good for is charging the i-pod, which is all I use it for. I dont think it is a matter of yours not working correctly; that is all it does.

I had gotten a pretty good price for it when I bought my car in November, but they told me I'd have to come back in January to have it installed due to problems that were being worked out in it. After reading all the negative feedback, I went in and got a refund before they ever contacted me to tell me if was in.

What I do now is use the Aux jack in the center console and just plug in that way. Not quite as convenient, but it works just fine. At some point, I may try to wire up a charger, but it's not a big priority for me now.

The musiclink is total crap.

It's amazing to me that, when you go to your Acura Owner's web page, it still touts the Musiclink! Come to think of it, they have not updated that site since I got my car last Dec!!

My dealer refunded my money with no problems. I believe they stopped selling them as well.

I try to talk everyone out of it who asks, but some insist.

I initially contacted my dealer about it few weeks after I got the X and he said he'll follow up on it.

I didn't hear back and frankly didn't have time to deal with it. When I went for the first service I asked for the salesman who had sold it to me, and he had left the dealership. I went to the floor manager and told him about the situation, he vaguely remembered the issue and told me he'll talk to the Acura rep (they visit once a week). He called me the very next day and told me my check is in the mail.

I've cashed it :) and used it towards car payment already :p

Cheers and good luck!!

It should be minimal hassel.

pahuja, did you actually have the iPod link installed and then removed? Or did they just leave it installed an sent you a refund?
