Hey guys, I was wondering if a cold-air AEM off an Accord, TL, or CL would fit the 01-04' MDX?
My buddy can get them wholesale and I am thinking about it because I need more power out of the V6. Its to guppy sometimes.
Anyboy have ANY CLUE?:2: |

| Take a close look..... Your MDX comes from the factory with a cold air intake. |

highcountrymdx,
I believe Silver01MDX is referring to something after market. Check out this thread.:4: |

That is what I was reffering to. Thank Ex. I really want a little more performance as well as growl from under the hood. That was the purpose of the question.
I had already torn into the factory intake box, and I did notice there is no resonator in there. |

If you look into that oval hole just to the right of where the battery rests in my pic, you will see the OEM air resonator box. You can remove it by peeling the left front wheel fender liner back. You might bruise a few knuckles, but it is a "no cost" DIY project that can free up a few ponies. Good luck.:29: |

| Alright. I took the top half of the air box off and all I saw was an open passage there. So, I figured there was no resonator. But, now I know! :2: |

There are a few kits out there that will convert the Honda engineered intake system to something along the lines of what EXCALIBUR showed. It does sound great, especially when the vtec shifts at about 4000 rpm. Neat!
Just be aware that the system is not pulling cold air into the engine, as does the factory system. With the system pictured, the air that enters the intake system is, in fact, heated underhood air. On a hot summer day the density of the air that reaches the engine will be much less. Your horsepower (fuel economy, etc.) will decrease.
But it will sound pretty neat!
And let's not get into the whole discussion about dubious filtering abilities of the K&N air filters. |

| I was going to say the same thing. That is a short ram or warm air intake. Good for sound, and maybe some high end gains. A true cold air intake will involve a hole cut somewhere to allow air from outside of the engine compartment, usually in the fender, wheel well area. |
