| I have an 03 MDX, 52,000mi. Last year the a/c was fine. Now yesterday first time i used it seemed very weak. It didnt drip water from the bottom like it usually does from condensation, and when i opened the hood, the pipes werent sweating. Any ideas? Or is there common a/c leaks on the mdx. I called dealer and made an appointment, said it may be my drain clogged for the a/c. But the pipes werent even getting cold |

Those are usually the symptoms of the lack of Freon.

| i figured it needed freon, can it just go low on freon, is there any common leaks in a/c in the mdx? |

Over time a small leak can reduce freon in the system sufficiently to prevent cooling. Small leaks frequently do not leave a visible trail. Your auto a/c guy will have a tool that "sniffs" the freon and can thereby find the leak.

The most common leak I've seen in the MDX is the compressor discharge hose. It can be seen by looking up through the opening for the radiator drain. The part where the rubber hose is crimped into the metal line should be wet or have oil dripping from it.
Other causes could be a rock hit the condensor or a leak at one of the connections for the rear A/C lines. |

| Supertech, my appointment is on thursday at my acura dealer. He told me they will recharge, and inject with dye, and i have to go back after a week to see if it leaks. Is there a way they can detect the leak with any sniffer when i bring it in? Instead of coming back after week? |

Hi, I've got a 2001 mdx with the same issue on the fourth refill with dye. Did you ever find your leak. Perhaps mines in a similar location.
Thanks,

A very small leak can be difficult to detect.
How long does it take for the leak to make the a/c ineffective.
If it is a small leak your simplest (read least costly) fix may be to buy the tools you need to refill with freon. Some people do that without gauges. However, a simple guage set is not real expensive and allows you to fill to the recommended pressure.
Years ago this was a fairly common problem. I have a gauge set hanging in the garage that has not been used in many, many years.

This set says R12/22 but I do not know why the type of freon would make a difference. You might ask an a/c expert.

I have 02 MDX, 93 K miles. A/C is not working. If refrigerant leak is detected, how it will be fixed? Is it repairable or replacement is the only solution?
Please tell me how your A/C problems were fixed.
Thanks in advance. |
