Quick question for all you MDX experts out there. My VTM-4 indicator light recently came on - this is the one on the instrument panel - not the VTM-4 lock button on the right side of the steering wheel that lets you know the differential is locked. I recently, using the stock head unit, had a rear subwoofer installed, replaced all the interior speakers and added two amps, one for the interior speakers and one for the sub. Does anyone know if these additions could have somehow caused the vtm-4 light to go on for some reason? I've read all the EGR problems on the site but the light came on shortly after the new amps and stuff i put in so im pretty sure the two have to be related in some way.
I wanted to check in with this site before i went to the dealership so they wont have as easy of a time bending me over telling me that a need a new flux capacitor or something. Thanks in advance. |

| No - the car doesnt feel any different at all - it drives the same as i remember it driving before the light went on. |

regardless if you not experiencing any problems you should see the dealer ASAP
that indicator indicates that there is a electrical problem |

| I'm planning to go in on monday - was wondering if anyone had any insight on the stereo indicator light correlation since im worried the dealer will try to sell me the brooklyn bridge as a fix. |

Yeah, you should be worried. If, as you suspect, the installation of the aftermarket amps disturbed the wiring for the VTM4, it's your nickel. That is, warranty can be denied for that portion of the repair (if any) that was necessitated by the aftermarket mods.
You don't have an affirmative duty to tell teh dealer your suspicions, but they will obviously discover the mods pretty quickly.
If an aftermarket shop did the install, should you bring it back to them and tell them to fix it? |

| I'm def. going back to the aftermarket spot if it was their fault - ill see what the dealers says and what he diagnosis is - prepared for bad news though. |

| Took the mdx into the dealer - he clearly saw the aftermarket sub I had put in and the amps - he had the control unit and relay replaced - and to my susprise - didn't charge me a dime - all was covered under warranty. While I was at it I had him do the front suspension clunk tsb and clear out the sunroof drains - I was prepared to drop serious money but I can't believe I walked out of there scott free - and this was at Acura of Manhattan, New York no less. |
