My X was previously owned, and smells slightly like smoke. Cleaned the interior thoroughly, but odour remains. I suspect the headliner is the real culprit here. Any tips on how to clean this properly, ie. steam cleaner (hot), or carpet cleaner. Just unfamiliar with the weaved material, and do not want to melt or bleach it our accidentally.
Anyone done this successfully. Tim...any insider dealer tips on prepping previous "smoker cars" for resale? |

Doubtful it's the headliner. If the previous owner was a smoker, the smell has probably embedded itself into everything in that car, including the carpet, the lining under the carpet, the seat cushioning, the dash, everything. :1:
But if you must, maybe some oxyclean? Maybe putting some sort of odor neutralizer in there would absorb some of it... |

I hear you Nate, but it is actually only the headliner. everything else has been detailed and steam cleaned to near-new, and smells great. Even opened up the dash and console and cleaned thoroughly. Even used a car ionizer on it over night. The only thing I'm scared to touch is the headliner....heat might ripple it, and carpet shampooer might rot or stain it. Just not sure how to treat it properly first-try.
Again, some inside Acura Dealer help would be appreciated.
