| The thread by Crawfish got me thinking. What kind of signal does the trip computer receive? Is it a non-color screen or is a screen with the images there that just light up when prompted? If there was some way to turn those signals in to just video output, would it not be possible to use an external monitor or A/V unit in place of the trip computer with an Aux. input. The thinking would be to change the source of the aftermarket to Aux. and you could see the Trip Computer screen. Change it back to DVD, CD or whatever. Any ideas. I know its wishful thinking but...... |

I have opened up the trip computer and it has 2 boards ( lcd and another that connects to the lcd). The boards transmit the selected functions back to the factory harness. And you are right the screen is a non color screen and it will not accept any video inputs. But I was able to replace the trip computer with an aftermarket screen.I had to solder some wires on the trip computer and connected it to 4 buttons for ac,mode ,fan up and fan down. I cannot see my trip computer anymore but I know it works.
Here's my current screen with Digital FX 2.0 |
