I'm also a member of the OdyClub site (very similar to this one), having had a firstgen Ody, and intimately familiar with my brother's second-gen.
Any members here who also own an 07 Ody, particularly a Touring R+N? I would like your input on your experience compared specifically to ownership experience with the MDX. We're contemplating returning to the minivan fold (our firstgen technically was more like a tall wagon without sliding doors so it doesn't quite qualify). Having 2 MDX's - 01 and 07 - is SUV overkill and our next baby is on the way, so the third row is getting a liiiiiittle overcrowded, plus we want to try something new, despite my wife's minivan phobia.
Those who switch from MDX to Ody on a routine basis, do you go into Bluetooth withdrawal and HID envy, as these are not available on the Ody yet but are optional on the Sienna? I know I can probably retrofit Honda S2K HID projectors and add a Parrot BT, but for a nearly $40K van, these should come OEM, IMHO, and so do thousands of other Ody members.
Your input is appreciated. |

The '08 Ody is due for the mid-cycle face lift, and I'm pretty sure a horsepower upgrade and Bluetooth are in the works (among other small upgrades)
After 3 Chrysler minivans (back when Honda and Toyota had nothing to offer mind you in terms of "real" minivans), and two MDX's, I'd be hard pressed not to get an Odyssey if we had the need.
With my youngest graduating college, the MDX is more than enough.
I'm thinking next time around, the CR-V-Navi/Lexus small SUV in the works will be what we'll be looking at.
Sorry RDX...(and new MDX for that matter) |

No HP increase per the rumor mill. Maybe some minor fascia changes. BT may be a possibility but no one has mentioned anything about HIDs. The headlight housing does have markings that include "D2S" and has 2 anchor points at the bottom that seem to be for a HID ballast so that is a future possibility. But nothing confirmed. I'm trying to get my Honda/Acura sales dude to get more info on the 08. We'll see. |

I'm not sure I've ever seen a mini-van with Hid's. Not sure I want to.
I do know that stepping from a 2007 MDX to an Odyssey would cause me serious trauma mentally. The word "gelding" comes to mind. -) Don't do it!! |

The 06 Sienna has HIDs as an option and they actually look pretty good. It also has BT. Having installed HIDs on my 01, owned an RL with stock HIDs briefly and now an 07 with stock HIDs, I don't think I can live without them (well maybe that's an overstatement). The Silverstars are going to be a poor substitute until the warranty expires on the prospective 0dy so I can install a HID kit or if I decide to get a Sienna.
Well, circumstances have changed and we will need the extra and more maneuverable cargo space and people room of a minivan. We'll still fit in the 07, but I might sell the 01, and not without separation anxiety. I don't want to trade it in - it has too many upgrades that a dealer would not figure in the actual value on a sale. And we'll keep the 07 for sure - it will be the closest I'll get to a performance oriented vehicle until the kids grow up. |

Got ya...you're keeping an X. Well in that case, you got one of everything. Just feared you were trading in the 300hp MDX for a mini-van. That would have done a number on me.
...and yeah...throw some hid into that baby. Post it on this forum too if you go that way. I'd love to see a mini-van riced up a little.

Don't worry about the switch. Our current stable includes the 2007 MDX and 2006 Odyssey RES/NAV. It truly is the best blend of sport and functionality to have both.
You absolutely can't beat the utilitarian fit of the Odyssey v. any SUV--including the MDX. Now, i know that is blasphemy on an MDX board--especially after owning 4 MDX's. But, i'm sure you can relate to the fact that the Ody is the best people hauler--hands down!
Now, when it comes to sporty looks/features/image, well that's why we have the MDX!
Besides, the Ody is my wife's ride :p
I drive the MDX and S2000 :2: |

Honda must love you. Thanks for the input, everybody. I'm still hanging on to the 01 X for now. Now the MB GL CDI and R Class CDI as well as the Audi Q7 hybrid are starting to look more attractive. When will Lexus come out with their dang minivan equivalent? |
