A fair review overall, I think, but another reporter intimidated by a few buttons...I find the center console a quick and easy way to control the many things in the MDX - easier than scorlling through nav screens, etc.

I don't understand the many reviews that say the center stack and steering wheel controls & buttons are so overwhelming! I would much rather become familiar with the layout and have most things readily accessible instead of having to search through various menus to get to a simple function.

I'm 50 years old and by no means a techno guy. I've only had the MDX for three weeks, but I find the layout and the ease of use to be excellent. Compared to my wife's Toyota touch screen nav/audio controls, this is a breeze.

Yeah this review goes against almost all I have read.
It was nice to see sometihing different, but most of the points I do disagree with.

I do agree that the ride is jumpy in sport mode, and too soft in comfort mode.

In regards to the electronix, sure it takes some time to learn everything, but it is not rocket science at all.

It would have been nice to include keyless starting and unlock, but they have to save some features for next gen models :)

Wind noise is a little loud also.
...there is no perfect car!

Who buys a car because of electronics anyway? I expect a moderate degree of gadget sophistication, and the 07 center stack is not hard to figure out at all. I miss the old touchscreen system when it comes to navigation but I've gotten used to the dial thing. I got more confused with the gear shifter on the MB R Class and the array of disparate controls on the dash. The 07, with separate buttons for AC is actually better than the 01 which integrated that with the touchscreen.

And this writer's analogy at the end with owners having to put up with the electronics for years with no hope in sight is just BS. Anybody who buys or leases a car knows it will be dated in 2 to 3 years.

Besides, I don't even use the calculator and calendar functions in my cellphone, let alone my car. For somebody who claims to be tech-savvy, I think the writer is grasping at straws. He should review appliances instead of automobiles.

Your completely right

Yes, but he is right in one respect...if it's true that you cannot update the software in the trip computer, mapping, etc. - this sucks...I mine as well buy one of those tomtoms or other gps devices that can be updated with new firmware, etc. - I don't want to be using 2007 technology in 2010...

This reviewer is an idiot and the proof is in his closing point.

"Like any top-line cell phone, the MDX has more electronic features than I use. But I can upgrade my cell phone in two years and get the next evolution.

Not so the MDX. It is state of the art for 2007, but owners will live with its information overload for several years without the hope of an update."

He cannot upgrade to the next evolution of the MDX in the future? Who says? Is he hinting that the technology on the MDX should upgradeable with firmware? If so, then why not use an argument based on the same logic? Something like; I had to upgrade the firmware in my Wi-Fi access point because there were alot of dropped connections. His cell phone point is that he just buys the next, newer cell phone. But he expects differently with an automobile? His logic is flawed, like most journalists.

Did he contact Acura to find out if the firmware can be upgraded? If he did, he didn't report on it. So the assumption is NO. But we already know for a fact that there are firmware upgrades already out to fix issues; namely the radio being turned on after hanging up a phone call. Again, like most poor journalists he presents points with out doing the proper research.

Plus I question how tech savvy he really is. He has a cell phone, surfs the web and sends email, and has a cable modem with Wi-Fi. That's not evidence of being tech savvy.

Just because a vehicle has (as he puts it) "bells and whistles" doens't mean those bells and whistles need to be blown by everybody.
