I've had a '07 MDX for about three weeks, and think it's great. However, all the plastic parts of the dashboard - specifically the nav screen, the display that shows the audio, temp, & phone, and especially the dark plastic with the simulated wood finish attract dusk like a magnet! I've wiped these down numerous times, but it seems every time I get in the car these areas are covered in dust. It's almost as if there's a static charge attracting it. I thought dampening a cloth with water might help reduce the attraction, but it does not. It looks great when it's freshly cleaned, but the next day it's dusty again. My last vehicle was a Honda Pilot and I didn't have this issue.
I searched the forums for this issue but didn't see anything about it. I would appreciate anyone's advice on how to reduce this as I find it annoying. My passenger even commented on it the other evening, and I'm starting to feel like Pig-Pen in Peanuts!;) |

It depends on what you're using on your dash. Previously, I used the same product that I used on my leather seats on my dash. That left it very greasy, which was a dust magnet. I stopped doing that and now only use Armoroil (can't remember the spelling) dash wipes. That solved the problem, but keep in mind, that won't keep dust away forever.

Don't drive with your windows down, use the wonderful AC/pollen system that comes with the vehicle! :1: I use Lexol dash/plastic cleaner and works well. But as I said if you open you windows.....you will be dusted out!

I have used a "California Duster" on our new 07 MDX as well as our 01 first gen MDX and my BMW 540 and love it. It is a small hand-held dust mop with wax impregnated fibers. It can leave a little waxy residue if you don't follow the directions and leave it on newspaper overnight before you first us it , but afterwords it works great. Gets all the dust and doesn't require any spraying or wiping. I use it whenever there is visible dust on the interior and it only takes about 2 minutes to do the entire interior.

Have you tried using rubbing a dryer sheet on these surfaces?

The ONLY solution I apply to the FAUX wood is ZAINO 8! NEVER rub with dry cloth or you will have spider webs soon images soon! :1:
