| I know adding factory navi has been talked to death and that it may be possible but not easy to do. My question is, can I replace the trip computer with the navi screen and have it function without all the navi equipment? I would like to tackle adding the full navi system down the road but am wondering will the video screen work with the trip details and a/c details and controls without all the navi equipment or is it a all or nothing type of deal. My main reasoning is being able to use the navi screen to play video. I really do not need the navi system but, would love the use of the factory color screen. Any thoughts and just using the screen without adding full navi?? |

Just one thing I found:
Both the trip computer and the navi screen have only two connectors on them. A large blue connector and small green connector. These seem to be the only connectors on them.
Seems like it might work to basically replace the screens and the navi screen will still work the ac and trip info. |

I'm not well-versed with the actual cable connectors but I don't think a simple swap will make it work. The NAV outputs in RGB format; I don't know what video format a black-and-white LCD screen uses. |

| I think you are correct. Tim emailed me the wiring diagrams for both and there are several differences. Oh well, looks like replacing the factory radio may be in order. |
