My Blitzsafe Install - Click HERE for Original Thread

I have a non-nav 04X. I have previously installed a rear DVD unit. That used an FM modulator for sound (unless the kiddies used the headphones). Sound was terrible.

So, I bought a blitzsafe adaptor and installed it last weekend. What a difference in sound!

However, I didn't want the RCA plugs hanging out - sort of wanted a "stealth" install. Here is what I did. I had a small plastic box. I painted it black and screwed two RCA plugs into it. On the other side, I soldered some wire with RCA plugs on the other end. I ran that wire under the center console, and up behind the radio.

The Blitzsafe adaptor is mounted to the right of the radio. My new RCA wire plugs straight into that.

The plastic RCA box is screwed into the bottom of the center console tray. It is easy to plug an auxiliary input into that, whether it be the RCA plugs from my DVD player, or RCA plugs from an MP3 player.

It is all out of sight and looks sort of like it belongs there.

Hey Ex, check out my other thread. I had some problems posting pics, but I used a hosting site. In that thread just click on the photos for larger images.

pcgold,

Roger that. I'm glad everything works fine.:29:

Glad your Blizsafe install went well. Mine seemed to have, but I'm simply unable to select CD1 mode to enable the aux input source. I noticed that several posters with working Blitzsafe installs had aftermarket DVD installations. Could there be a connection between the aftermarket DVD install and the ability to select CD1 as an input source? Did you need to do anything to enable CD1 selection on your headunit? Cheers.

Smith, you've got a PM.

Did you have a solution for SmithMountainLa's issue?
pcgold
Sport, no, not yet.

Smith, I go tyour PM. Do you have a pic of your headunit? What model number is your blitzsafe?

Sorry for the long delay. Finally had a chance to pull the headunit back out and snap some photos. Looks like I've got a Pioneer from LOT 30008361. There's a code in the top right-hand corner of the serial number sticker: 39100-S3V-A340 and the serial number is DC008361.
Next the MFO I see March 2004 PI.

I'm hoping someone out there knows about a secret reset or some such method that will force my headunit to select the Aux input mode (CD1). Any ideas?
