I sold my MDX today - Click HERE for Original Thread

After 5 years of ownership, I sold our 02 MDX.

It's funny, because the transmission replacement and my less then positive experience with our dealer and Acura really set me off on a path to b*itching about this car. But, when it comes right down to it, I'm going to miss it. I had a number of minor issues over the years I owned it, but it was really the dealer that turned me a bit negative on it. The car was dependable and always ran very well.

Bottom line is as far as styling, packaging, and utility go, our 02 MDX was a kick azz vehicle that served our family well. I still remember back when we bought it the feeling we had that dollar for dollar, it was a great value when compare to other similarly priced vehicles. The resale value on it was terrific as well. I sold it at a fair price for myself and the buyer. I would be curious to see just how long one of these will run because at 93k miles, it was still a baby.

Sorry for the irrelevant post, but I thought I'd pass along my parting thoughts on my 02.

Let's get relevant, then-
A. How much did you sell it for?
B. What did you buy?

$14500

Our family is growing up so we didn't need anything quite as big as the MDX. We didn't like much out there with the exception of the Infinit FX35. Got a killer deal on it too!

You bought a good car, mate. I want one.

It's in a weird sized segment for me, so it has taken me a long time to get used the FX's looks...longer than most actually (kind of has the profile of an old boot to me), but driving one was tons of fun. It's higher than other cars so forward visibility is good, but takes off, and handles just like a sports car. Best of both worlds. They got it right the first time.

I think the looks are something you either love or hate. Size wise, it fit the bill as now that the kids are growing up, we just don't have the need for her to drive anything bigger. A lot of folks think the FX35 is the same vehicle as the Murano. Not even close. The Murano is based on the front wheel drive Altima platform while the FX is based on the rear wheel drive GX35, thus the sports car like feel.

If you need to downsize from an MDX, it's an excellent choice, especially over the Lexus Rx350 which I find dated looking and quite boring. I just hope the FX handles as well as the MDX did in the snow.

You might have a problem there with the FX35 and snow because of the rear wheel drive platform. I know this from experience with a J30. Besides that, i think that after the MDX, i'll be considering an FX also, if nothing else comes out that I like.

Although, I saw an Arcadia today, and I must say, that's one beautiful vehicle IMHO.

Rear wheel drive yes but it is AWD. It also has a switch to throw it into full time 50/50 AWD. I'm hoping that works well.

The Acadia is indeed beautiful. GM has really turned it around as of late. We looked at one but it was bigger then the MDX. If they made that car in a 5 passenger version it would have been damn near perfect (for our needs).

I really like the look of the Saturn Outlook (based on Acadia I believe) but topped out it was around $44K!

The:

GMC Acadia
Saturn Outlook
Lincoln MKX
Ford Edge

Do they look alike, interior and exterior resemblance. Just minor details change.

I personally don't like any of them.

The Saturn Outlook does look great, and very similar to the other American companies new SUV line-up also. They're really spreading these new design ideas thin huh?

I looked at the Edge and MKX. I drove the MKX and liked the size, ride, and exterior styling. They claim the interior is "award winning" but personally I found it a bit cheesy when compared to an Acura/Infiniti/Lexus and even the Acadia.
