XM Radio all of a sudden losing signal - Click HERE for Original Thread

I have a 2005 and all of a sudden, starting today, the signal on XM is going in and out way too often. I can barely make it 1/10 of a mile without loss of sound and then it comes back after a second or so. It is going out when there is no obstruction. I was thinking that maybe the XM satellites are having technical problems, but Ironically when I am not moving I do not lose the signal so I think it is on my end.

The only thing I have done differently is I installed a USAspec IPOD connection, but I did that over 3 weeks ago and there was no issue until today.

The only other thing is I ran a RCA wire from the front of the car to the back cargo area. I did this by running the wire along the drivers side under the door jams (snapped them off at drivers door and passenger door). Now I did this yesterday so I was thinking that maybe the XM antenna wire goes along the same route and maybe I pinched a wire (but I can't believe that would be it). I just checked and everything looks fine.

Anyways, has anybody else experienced this problem?

Thanks

RGN2000,

it's not just your car - but XM is having issues nationwide and it was happening in my 2007 MDX as well.

I have not lost signal, but my radio all of a sudden has decided that it should go to channel one upon shutoff. Or maybe I should say it is on channel 1 when it turns on. This is an aftermarket radio.

Must say I'm glad to hear this is a XM signal issue. I've only had my MDX for about 4 weeks and have never had satellite radio before - I'm hooked! Until yesterday the signal was perfect - even in my garage and under bridges. Then suddenly it started fading in and out. I assumed the problem was on my end. I even looked over the top and rear to be sure I didn't get antenna damage in the car wash. Getting this news made my day.

Perhaps I should call in today to start my subscription - they might be more flexible giving me the $77 annual rate if they are loosing customers over this service disruption!

Ryan- it has nothing to do with plugging in your rear camera. XM screwed up an update to one of their satellites, and everybody everywhere lost signal over the weekend.

It appears the problem has been fix.
So far everything looks good....

I heard on the news the other morning that they had one of their sats go out of service. Maybe they moved a sat to give everyone a temp. fix until they can launch another one.
