Updates on Fall/Winter floor mats - Click HERE for Original Thread

Hi All,

I have searched and read all the messages about foul weather mats for the past year. As fall and winter is around the corner and since sufficient time have gone by for many members to find and experiment various floor mat suppliers, I would like to ask those members to give us an update of their value, functionality and coverage. I personally is looking for a set. Living in CA, there is not much foul weather :D so my foul weather is really the ski and camping trips.

I have read about the following:
1. Acura all-seasons mats
2. WheatherTech mats
3. CostCo all weather floor mats
4. Car and Driver Winter floor mats
5. Husky floor mats
6. ...
7. ...

What is your vote based upon value and functionality? Any new alternatives?

Thanks, :)

We just got the Acura all season mats from Tim.. and they're great. :) Compared to Weathertech (which we had on a Discovery), they are about half as heavy, and more flexible.

We live in Los Angeles, and the Weathertech mats seemed a bit of overkill for the rain and occasional snow that got on them.

Which is why we got the Acura mats... !

4mel may be correct due to your location issue. I like the weather tech better tough, since they cover more than Acura's, hold more liquid and have ridges (keeps pants dry!) and are available in tan. You may want to check the newer ones from wt with cloth.
my 2 cents.

Any updates besides the OEM and WeatherTech mats? Please step up and share the information.

Thanks and cheers :)

I have the WTs on my wife's 2000 TL and would have to say they're the best floormats I've tried. We're in the northeast and only use them in winter/spring to keep the snow and water off the floor. I'll be putting in an order soon for a set for the MDX.

I agree with the prior post that they're probably overkill for where you live. If I were you I'd probably buy the Acura Mats if I had the black interior, but I'd keep looking if I had the tan interior.

Let us know what you decide.

As I mentioned earlier, I will use the all seasons floor mats only for camping or skiing. The dirt, mud and water from the camping and the muds/snow from the skiing are the primary reasons I am thinking about getting those mats. I go camping about 5 times a year and skiing about 3 times a year, in total about 20~25 days per year. My main concern is more about coverage/fit and water/mud retention.

Question: Does the WeatherTech mats have the hole to hook to the floor hook? Is the back mat one long piece or two short piece and covering the whole floor? The pics on the web is not clearly convincing at all for the back mat.

Yes, ebony interior wnet with Silver :)

No the Weathertech didn't have a hole on the front set. Since you want it to hold water in winter, you wouldn't want to put one in either. The Weathertech mats come with deep grooves around the edges that you can use to trim them to fit better. They are not made exclusively to fit each car/truck, but come pretty close.

The mats for the back of the TL were separate, of course, and I think they are for the MDX also. I seem to remember some pics someone posted showing that they got two separate mats for the rear, then trimmed them to the right shape and butted them together.

Just checked the website (www.mats.com). You can buy front and rear sets or front pair and rear pair separately, so looks like it's two pieces in the rear.

One other consideration... we use our third row of seats often, and found that we can "roll up" the Acura mats instead of dragging it out and finding a place for it in an already overstuffed garage...

In this case, the flexibility of the mats works for you - but it does take up all the room behind the third row.

Another question:

Is there an all seasons mat for the third row?

I try to reach www.macneil.com for the WeatherTech floor mats, but their website is unreachable. Does anybody know why? Thnaks in advance.

I posted some pics in this thread that can give you an idea for third row.

After researching the cost, coverage and quality, I have purchased the black WeatherTech floor mats for both front and back for $89 including shipping . Just want to share.

by the way, anyone know why Acura doesn't have mats to match the saddle interiors?
