Anyone have a Thule Atlantis 1800 with an '04 MDX? Can you open the hatch without hitting the box?
I know the 1600 box can be installed and not hit the hatch but I'd prefer to be able to put my skis in the box if I ever wanted to and to have the extra space.
Thanks in advance. |

I'm not sure which model I have, but it holds my 210cm snowboard (which makes it at least as long as that one).
I had to drill an extra set of holes in mine to move it forward a few inches when I first got it. It would have worked if I didn't have the air deflector on the rear window.
With the extra holes, it works fine and I've never had any problems with it. It overhangs the windshield just a bit. |

Erikk,
I just purchased and installed a brushed silver Thule Atlantis 1800 for my 05 X. No clearance issues whatsoever. Tailgate nor the rear washer nozzle does not hit the box as long as you slide the box forward. Pls keep in mind that I do not have a spoiler on my rear hatch. No drilling or modifications required to mount it.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the input. I actually got the 1800 also and never came back to let others know the results. I have the spoiler and with the box pushed as far forward as possible the spoiler JUST BARELY touches the box. So little that it's ok to just open the hatch and not worry about letting it swing open. |
