Does anyone else have a problem seeing the radio display when it is sunny in the base model 07?

The dash lighting control does not seem to control the radio display. With sunglasses on, I can barely make the symbols. It isn't much better with the sunglasses off. When it is not sunny, it seems to be ok.

Is there a setting I am missing?

Same experience here. Can't seem to find an option to change the audio brightness level.

I ve had mine about a week and I think the brightness of that display is lousy too. It looks like to me like somebody forgot to peel off the prective film on the face but they actually did!! Shold be at least 50 % brighter I think.....

I had to switch sun glasses to non polarized just so I could see things better.

I am starting to believe that this might be a first year flaw. I think the color of the display (white) combined with the choice of plastic (cloudy) over the radio face is doing this. My Accord has the same plastic but the lettering is colored somewhat.

There is a company www.glarestomper.com that makes shields for GPS devices. It looks like a modified one of these may do the trick and not be overly ugly. I sent them an email asking them to consider making one.

The glarestomper guy got back to me. We are working on a custom solution. He has to send me some things to try.

In the meantime, I found a posting on a Pilot thread about a guy who used a cutup front of a black plastic notebook slid into the crack above his nav. I tried it with the audio display and it seemed to work. If the glarestomper visor does not work out, I will cut one up carefully, cover it with vinyl and I think that will do the trick. I will post pics once I have a decent solution.

I just don't drive in the sunlight. ha, ha. :2:

Haven't noticed this as a problem as of yet. I'll check it out and report back.

Paid closer attention to the audio display this weekend. I'll admit that while it could stand to be a bit brighter, I found it still readable even in direct sun. I'm sure the glarestomper product would work wonders. Deanking, let us know your findings with glarestomer.com.

Everybody knows that brightness of the display can be changed , right?

I can't figure out how to change it. Note that when the lights are on, it can be adjusted but I am talking about visibility during bright sunlight. Hence, my lights aren't on.

Shootist - is there a way to control the audio display brightness, not the navi or mid lights? I too have not found a way to brighten the audio/climate portion.

Brightness of both Navi and Audio display is controlled by an option in Setup. (Setup button is at bottom right of middle collection of buttons) Color, and Blackness, too. Pick a color that you can see, change contrast and brightness as necessary.
I have my Day setting at almost full bright, mid-black level, and a little under mid for Contrast. I also use the WHite colors for day time map, Gray for daytime menu, and Red for night.
Brightness of MID is controlled independently of Navi/Audio.

Very helpful. Thanks.

Does anyone know how to do this on the non-tech package model?

The brightness of the audio display cannot be adjusted by using the NAV setup or the IP brightness controls. It is fixed and cannot be seen in sunlight.

I ended up making a custom visor for it. I got some black vinyl, a plastic notebook cover, and some help from my local dry cleaner. It doesn't look that bad and it is easily removable. Does the trick.
