Well, I was installing a trailer hitch today and took off the rear plastic trim piece that hides the spare tire. I immediately noticed rust spots on the metal that's directly under/behind the rear bumper. I'm attaching a couple pictures. What do you guys think? Even the spot welds are oxidizing so much that the paint it peeling. Is this something that's covered under warranty? I want to nip this now before it gets worse. I could wire bush it and paint it myself but I'd like to at least document it with the dealer.
Thanks,

| Should be covered by a 5-year unlimited mile warranty. Check with your dealer. |

Perfectly normal. You will find rust spots on most pieces of metal on the undercarriage.

| G Colton is correct, you'll find rust on most underbody components. It takes a very long time for that rust to become a structural problem. The outer body is much thinner sheet metal and is covered by a 5 year rust through warranty. Rust has to actually form a hole through an outer body sheet to be officially covered under warranty: |
