Radio Presets....Am I doing it wrong? - Click HERE for Original Thread

On the base model stereo using Key #2, I store all my presets (including XM), set the stearing wheel and mirror adjustments etc... then store in memory. If I lock the car and then come back and unlock it, all the memory functions are working fine.

When my wife then gets in the car (with Key #1), all of the XM pre-sets are gone and the AM/FM pres-sets are mine. She will then change all of the memory functions/pre-sets for her needs. When I get back in with Key #2, all of the XM presets are gone again and her AM/FM pres-sets are locked in (meaning that mine are gone).
What are we doing wrong?

I think it comes down to the way you're using your keys, oddly enough. My wife and I park our MDX in the garage, for example. She'll park the car and NOT lock it with her key #1. If I drive the car next, I will use my key #2 to unlock the car, even though the doors are not locked. This tells the car to use my settings as driver #2.

If you just press the #2 seat memory button, it only changes your seating position, but will still utilize the key settings of the last driver for the rest of the car.

So try using your key FOB #2 to unlock the car every time you drive. And have your wife do the same with her #1 key FOB every time she drives. This should allow you to each set up and retail their personal car settings.

One last additional thing to look for. Make sure your information system on the dash reads "Welcome Driver 2" when you use your key and "Welcome Drive 1" when your wife uses her key. Does that make sense?

Thanks. The display does show the correct driver (1 or 2) for each key. I'll try your method tonight. I hope it works. Thanks again!

Sharksfan,
Well, I tried your method and now XM radio pre-sets are working for each of us. However, the AM/FM presets are being over-written. So, when I unlock the car with key#2 the xm pres-sets and the AM/FM pre-sets are mine. When my wife then goes in and uses key #1, she will have her XM startions but the AM/FM are mine. If she changes them, when I get back in with Key #2, my AM/FM are gone and hers are there but my XM are still there. Weird. I have an appointment with the dealer on Thur.

Sorry to hear that didn't completely solve your problem. A trip to the dealer sounds like the right course of action. Good luck.

Your problem is that one of the fobs (your wife's) is not "linked". Your fob is linked, so when you set your presets, they stay preset. Then you wife's fob comes by, and sets all the presets to default.

Link both fobs before you set the presets and options again. Look at the tiny little light between the fob buttons. It blinks one or two times to tell if the fob is being linked or unlinked. Press both buttons until you see the link blink.

Well, it turns out that I am a dope. It was not the fobs. It was a simple thing that I can't beleive I missed.
The Auto-Select button had been turned on. This prevents the pre-sets from associating with each fob's memory. Duh.
