My 2007 Tech model makes a thumping / rumbling sound when I travel over quick short bumps. Has anyone else experienced this? And has anyone had their service department correct it?
Thanks very much. |

| I have the same thing I think. I hear it over things like speed bumps, small short bumps, street gutters, etc. The last time I went to the dealer they said it was the rubber on top and bottom of the springs were dry so they lubed them. Well I picked the car up after hours and it was still there as I drove out the lot. The next time I go in I will have them look at it again. I had my wife the other day drive back and forth over the gutter at the bottom of our driveway and I could hear a creaking/groaning sound as soon as the wheel hit. Not really a thump. It funny how hard bumps dont seem to do it. I am wondering if its a bad shock. Hopefully someone else has had this and has a fix. SuperTech are you out there!!!!! |

| I had a very similar noise that I was able to narrow down to the 3rd row driver's side seat belt. The seat belt anchor was not clipped and was only being held to the panel by the plastic clip and the main seat belt clips was bumping against the panel in the rear when I went over bumps. Try moving the main seat belt clip down below the plastic clip. |

I take that you guys don't turn on the radio while driving . . .

Only when I dont want to talk to my wife!!! LOL.
Stoke, yes mine also seems to come from the drivers side also.
Silver, thanks for the suggestion but it is definitely not a "knock" sound more like a creaking sound. Both of my rear belts are locked in place so its not that. When I take it in hopefully they will find it. I am still thinking shock or maybe a rubber hanger on the exhaust is dry. |

I hear the same sound as well. I try to duplicate it by boucing my car from rear while parked.
I suspect the sound is either from SwarBar bushing or Shocks. But I did not hear any sound at all while I bouced my MDX vigorously.
Then I hear a familiar loud noise that's not from the suspension but rather from the fuel tank. Its sound of the fluid rushing back and forth inside the tank. |

| I have a sport model and per a thread, here the tech lubed the bump stops on the X and it got rid of 90% of the creaking/clunking noise. |

| I guess the noise is not from the fuel tank. The noise got extremely loud on Sunday. So loud that the sound seem strangely familiar with my old 5s BMW with full suspension upgrade. I manage to find the BUSHING on the rear Sway Bar and lubricated. Test drove it later that night and this morning. Peace and quiet at last. Not a single noise just like an ACURA shoud be. I suspect I'll have to do this at a regular interval unless I can lubricate it with some axle grease. |

Brought my car in today for this noise. Best way to describe it is like opening a door with a dry hinge (you know like in a horror movie). Took the tech for a ride and he heard it also. I also gave them a copy of this thread. He ordered a set of bushings and new bump stops and will lube everything when they come in. It funny that the noise disappeared when we get very heavy rains. I had the car 6 months and no rain so it was worse. This means something was getting lubed by the water.
Also, while I was waiting, I overhead another person describing the noise. When she walked by I asked her if she had an 07 X and she said yes. Sounds like it is a more common problem, although I would consider it minor. Even before they fix it, just having it have gone through the rain made it more tolerable. I will keep everyone posted. It will probably be about a week before the parts come in. |
