Trip Computer in NAVI - why not in MDX? - Click HERE for Original Thread

Greetings to everyone!

I am proud new owner of 2007 MDX Sport/Tech Aspen White/Parchment. Great car.

Other thing is bothering me, though. My 2003 Honda Accord had Trip Computer in the NAVI system. It shows instant and average MPG and some othe useful information on NAVI screen. The 2007 Acura RDX and 2007 Acura RL I test drove also have this thing in the NAVI. Why Honda decided to drop it from the more expensive MDX?

I also have 04 TL (love it!) and it also had no Trip Computer in NAVI originally. However there are some tricks :) you can do and enable it for 04 TL - which I did. MDX navigation is different (next generation), though, and there are no known tricks for it so far.

Before anybody points me to that - yes, I know that MDX has trip computer in the dash (on the MID); however the one in NAVI looks much better and has more use (at least for me). If anyone would like to see it - just test drive 07 RDX, I believe you will like it.

I miss that feature too - it changes your driving behavior. I guess Acura doesn't want you to be aware of the 300 horses under the hood drinking the gas out of your pocket.

I agree with you about the trip computer. I do not like switching through all of that stuff up in the guages.

I have a friend that has a 04 TL and is interested in the steps needed to enable the trip on his Navi. Can you provide a link to configure this? Thanks.

Here it is. There are more threads about NAVI on this forum, but this one summarizes all information.

I've been using a add on Nuvi 660 nav in my 350ML and when I got the MX I was looking forward to the integration, but after a couple hours my Nuvi is back in the MDX. Asside form the screen size, the Navi in the MDX is about as lame, feature wise, as I have seen. Ity hardly has any features. Even the bluettooth in the MDX can't do anything with a moto cell phone. The Nuvi picked up everything incl the address book, recent calls etc., not to mention a great 3d view etc. Why can't "in car navis" have these modern features?
