I lost all my digital photos which were stored on my hard drive. No, I did not back them up. The only place I have copies of them is on my IPOD Video. How do I get them back onto my computer.

I tried looking at the IPOD though "My Computer" but nothing shows regarding my pics.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Same thing happened to us. Wife's computer lost all of our photo's. Had some copies on a digital photo frame and some of the older were backed up but just lost many of the 1 year old and newer photo's? When she goes to the files that are supposed to contain the pictures they are empty?

To make matters worse my laptop hard drive crashed and will not spin. Had many photo's also on the laptop and they are gone. The computer repair guy said recovering the data from that unspinning hard drive would be very expensive. Requires multimillion dollar equipment.

Moral of our situations...l.Back up anything important on a regular basis!

LL-

Can't help with the iPod but I can tell you what you need going forward. Check out Carbonite here.

I've used it for a couple years now. Had to do one restore which made it more than worth the small cost.

Unlimited backup at a very reasonable price. Check it out! I have over 66GB backed up. Took a few weeks to back up as it only works during the time you aren't using the computer and apparently it isn't the fastest app on the planet. But once you get through that initial backup it's a piece of cake.

what do you mean wiped out?

Some one deleted it, formated, HD failure?

Totally deleted. . .

If they were just deleted and the space has not yet been written over they may be recoverable. Check local expetert.

It lets you move files from your ipod back into itunes.

You should be able to see everything on your Ipod thru My Computer. You just have to make sure that the hidden folders are viewable.

Thanks, i'll give both a try.

If the files were just deleted, stop using the hard drive RIGHT NOW. As mentioned before, deleted files are easily recoverable if the hard drive remains untouched. If you keep using it, eventually blocks holding fragments of your files will get written over and you'll need a professional to do the recovery (if it's even possible). An untouched hard drive with deleted files can easily be recovered with a second hard drive to boot off and save files to.

You are right as this happened to us and the above worked.

When you look into your iPod as an HD, you should see around 4~7 folders.. in one of them should be your ipod photos. However, if you didn't chose to save the full size picture into your iPod, then you won't have the file...

For your case, even if the HD won't spin, you can take it to the disk repair guys..

They can still get the files off, as long as the HD disks are not damaged.

However, this will cost you some bills...
