| I just got my notice that my 90 days are up for XM. They want $142 for a year, not including traffic (I don't really need it). Anyone know how I can get a better price than that? I don't think I'd renew for that, it's not that good. |
|

| Mia's Dad |
| I called back a while ago and told them that I recieved an offer for $77 dollars per year for the music and 2.99 a month for the traffic. There was no questions asked and all is well. |
|
|
| SBrentnall |
| Was that a mail-in rebate, or did they send you a letter in the mail? I'm in the same situation, and $149 is way too much. |
|

| Just had my XM renewed for $77....told the operator that I am new and the dealer told me it is 77...gave it without any haggling. Did not want the traffic option...useless feature in my experience. |
|
|
| Mia's Dad |
| No it was not a mail in rebate. It was just talking to the rep by phone and them billing me. I also pay the $2 billing fee to not be auto renewed every year like they do if you give a credit card. |
|
|
| SullyC5er |
| $77 here too. They wanted the auto re-new with a credit card, I said 'no'. Then they wanted to add the billing charge, I said 'forget it' so they drop that too. |

What phone number did you call? |

| Time for me to renew. Received the canned letter from XM quoting $142.45 for a year's of basic service. Could someone provide some details on the $77/year offer I see all over this board, such as a toll-free phone number, promotion code, party offering same, etc.? I want to be armed with specific relevant info when I call the XM folks back.... |

I really like the XM -
Channel 76 is 5.1 surround which sounds great in the X
I like baseball so I can get listen to any game I like, or just check the scores.
I like the artist/song coming up on the Nav screen. Why didn't Acura set that up for FM? |
|
|
| NewMDX4Marti |
| Thanks everyone, they are still doing the $77 for a year of service, all you have to do is ask! I told them I was not willing to renew for full price, and I was ready to walk if they did not give me a deal. |

Firstly, $142.00 per year is quite cheap. regardless, I agree that the FM should have the artist and song display featue for FM. A co-workers 5 year-old Pathfinder has it. |

| I agree about the FM, my husband's 2001 BMW has that feature as well. |

Thanks everyone for the heads-up on this. |

I hate to steal this thread, but how do you know that channel 76 is in 5.1? Is there an indicator that says its broadcasting in 5.1? I see how to select Dolby Pro II, but how to 5.1??? |

| They must not like me or something. I called and asked for the $77 price and was told no, the cost is $142. I mentioned the winback 77 and was put on hold for a couple of minutes. Guy came back and said $142. I said no. Guess I'll load CDs and listen to them. |

| Okay - finally got the $77 deal for a year. Called another rep who could not give it to me either. He transferred me to some guy with a deep southern drawl who said he could do it. About 15 minutes on the phone, but good for another year. The first guy offered three years at $350. |

I need to renew my too.
Can someone tell me what info they'll need from me to renew my XM subscription beside the coupon code? |

Turn radio to channel 1 and id will appear. Also, they did not need much from me, not even credit card. All they wanted was to verify some information such as address and confirmed it was for an acura. Did not ask for radio ID. |

I paid for a 5 year plan to XM back in the day, so I'm covered through 2010. So when my 3 month trial ends, I'm just going to transfer my 5 year plan to my X.
I wonder if they would still give me a deal on the traffic subscription. |
|
|
| m500 |
Just called in for my renewal today. The deal is still good. The rep never asked for the coupon code.
$77/yr music + $3.99/month for traffic = $ 124.88 |

| The first time I called the woman put me on hold for ages when I asked for the 77 dollar deal. She then came back with some garbage about my radio not being equiped to accept that promo code. WTF!?!?!?!? I told her thank you for your time, and she had the audacity to say "but you want it for $142 right?". Not bloody likely! I called back the next day and the new operator did it no problem! |
|

| Called XM, first guy said without a code they couldn't offer the discount. I asked for him to double check with a supervisor. He came back and said they couldn't push it through their system without a code HOWEVER he could transfer me to a department that might be able to do it. I was transferred to a nice lady who asked what promo I was looking to take advantage of. I said Winback77 and she said no problem and said I was signed up for the $77 for a year. :) |

| Got a call from XM today and renewed for the $77 promo. My wife was talking to the guy on the phone and tried selling her for $127 for the year. I asked if they still had the $77 promo for the year and he said yes. He said after the year they will automatically charge me $12.95 per month but I have the choice of cancelling after my year is up. |

| I (actually xm did) had a problem merging my current account which 2 radios on it with the one in my mdx. I called ahead well before my trial periods was going to expire to set it up to merge with my exisiting account. Well wouldn't you know it, xm radio could not get it right. My service was dropped yesterday while going to the Alabama / Arkansas game. I called them after I parked and was pretty upset with them... Still, after I spoke with them, they still could not get is corrected. I had to wait to call them this morning and bottom line is I got half off for a year. I still turned off a radio that I have packed up since I'm moving to punish them for screwing up my day. |

I did get the $77 per year offer plus $48 for nav. I had to call back 3 times and finally they transferred me to a higher up and got the deal.
Rant: I don't understand why we have to jump thru hoops to get an offer like this. I mean they are the ones XM who put the offer out in the first place. Good for one good for all. But they were trying to tell me I needed to have recieved a letter in the mail in order to qualify.
Well thanks to this site for saving me $77 about a tank and a half of gas. |

| Called XM Radio 1-800#, said I'd like to renew with "the $77 deal", rep said "no problem", noted my trial service expired about a month ago, keyed in activation information, took my credit card number and I was done. I opted for Traffic too at $48/yr (no deals according to her and no negotiating; I tried to get it bundled for an extra $35/year). $125 for XM Radio + traffic for the year and I was done. Couldn't have been simpler. |

XM Sat called me this morning regarding my trial expiring and tried to sell me their service. I said that I'll renew if they give me the $77 per year deal and they said that the only $77 deal is for 6-months not 1 year. So I said that I'll pass.
Strike one, oh well I'll call them later and try to get the $77 deal again. I still have about 7 weeks until it expires anyways. |

Even though I got one year of XM for $77, I still don't think it's a bargain considering the programming stinks for the channels I listen to. At home I listen to Sirius and can't believe how big the difference is.... with Sirius I can stay on one channel and not get tired of what's playing. With XM I'm constantly flipping stations because there's very little to nothing playing that I like.
Next step is to put a Sirius receiver in the MDX.
Perhaps country, gospel, sports, and news channels are good on XM (I wouldn't know since I don't listen to those), but everything else just sucks, imo. |

| My Xm radio expired today, 2 months earlier than it was supposed to. I called in, waited a total of 10 minutes. After telling the first person my trial expired pre-maturely they transferred me to another person. I told the rep what the issue was and he told me it would be no problem to continue my trial for 2 more months as it was a system error. I mentioned my sales rep got Xm for 77$ for the year and he said no problem I can take care of that. Sweet, too bad Nav Traffic is an extra 4$ a month. I don't find it that useful especially when I can tune in to channel 211 for more updated traffic and weather. Hope you all can get the same deal with no hassles. |

I agree, as I also subscribe to both.
I think that Sirius has a better selection.
I like listening to the 60's, and the XM programming has way too much chatter. If I want chatter, I'll listen to free radio.
How do you propose to install a Sirius tuner? |

For now I just removed my compact Sirius Starmate from my wife's car (she doesn't know what it is, much less listen to it) and relocated it to the X's dash, near the ignition. It's attached with velcro for easy removal if necessary. The wires are routed underneath the dash and along the steering column and are not visible. The only wire partially exposed is the RCA cable that connects to the rear ent. inputs. The antenna is on the rear roof near the XM antenna.
Now I finally have some 80s, 90s, and new wave tunes I enjoy without having to constantly change channels as I did with XM. |

Just called and tried to renew XM trial on my 2008 which runs out in mid-Jan.
First call, rep will not budge on standard "142.45" yearly rate for radio only. Gave up.
Second call. Just hung up and called back. This rep just went ahead and said $77 basic radio XM, $48 additional for nav. Done deal. Less than 60 seconds.
I guess it depends on who you speak with. Calling back and trying a new rep may save time over waiting for whatever "higher ups".
My 2-cents. |

I had to have my XM reset, so XM took the opportunity to sign me up, despite my saying so, for 3 more months. I founds this out when they sent me a bill! Needless to say I am going to protest.
THe code was winback 3 and it was less than $10 for 3 months. |

What's soon? I have sirius for my home/office/BMW and XM for the MDX... I agree with everyone's opinion about XM - I enjoy Sirius more... though it shouldn't matter a great deal since the two are merging, but it does matter.
Anyway to use the built in sat antenna to get sirius? The package you show has an antenna as well.... ? |

You can use your XM antenna, but I believe it has to be modified. Otherwise, the universal Sirius reciever should come with an antenna. |

Got lucky the first time I called to renew my subscription. Before the rep had the chance to say his sales pitch, I just said, "I want the $77 for radio and $48 for the nav subscription". The rep said, "OK. " Boy! That was easy! Then I added my 2nd radio for $6.99/mo.
I'll stick with XM because I don't want another expense of buying a new unit. Besides my wife and I are happy with the service. I also like the portability of our 2nd unit because I can easily hook it up with one of my 3 other cars or the boat. I just don't like all the wirings that stick out. I opted not to hard wire it due to portability issue from one car to another. Happy listening everyone!:1: |
