Hi,
My wife's company is selling refurbished IBM laptops for a big discount. The technology is several years old I think, but the prices are attractive. I would mainly use the computer for web surfing and e-mail, as it supposedly has wi-fi (802.11b)
My question is:
1) Should I buy the T30 at $150, the T40 at $300, or neither? Anybody with knowledge of these computer models?

I read this post and registered so I could answer it.
I've had a T30 and have a T40 now.
I would recommend the T40. It's thinner, lighter and the processor is probably a bit better.
The one trick is that it's not as tough as the t30 if you pick it up from the side where the keyboard meets the wrist pad. That said, I think it's a wonderful unit.
The T30 is a wonderful machine, it's really tough, but it gets heavy.
So, I think for $300, you can't go wrong.
heck, I'd purchase one at that price if I could.

Thanks for the reply, Leif. That's good info. I thought that $300 for the T40 was a really good deal, but didn't know if it was worth that much more than the T30. You have me leaning towards the T40.

| Get the T40. I am familiar with the T30 and I have the T41. Assuming each is the basic OEM unit, the T40 is the better buy for the $ in my opinion. Also, look at EBAY to see what they are selling for. |

| If the screen is 1024x768, it will not be compatible with acuramdx.org (need something ~1133 pixels or wider... like 1280). They supposedly have a 1400x1050 version and this will be nice. To be honest I wouldn't buy a laptop 2 years or older... that's when parts start to break down or sometimes people are lucky and the laptop lasts forever. |

I generally am not a fan of used computers, but I think I may buy the T40 for $300 on this deal. I have heard they are very well made. Hope I don't regret it...
Any other opinions? |

| I say T40 as well. I had T30, T32, T40, T41, T42p and now T60p. T40 probably was one of the best ones. |
