ok im planning on getting the pioneer avic d3. my installer informed me that since the car has bose..he is going to have to rewire the car. Has anyone change theyre headunit to a aftermarket one?
i have found differtn bose converters that will convert the signal to work with bose speakers or vice versa.
i also read that people have replaced theyre speakers but dont sound right unless they bypass the bose oem amp?
If anyone knows how i could make this transition smooth w/o alot of work please let me know. |

I installed an Alpine W200 and I had to use an adapter to lower the output of the Alpine to closer match the Bose. It is basically a line out convertor that hooks in between the Alpine harness and the factory harness. Works great if you want to keep the Bose stuff. I am not sure what he meant by rewire the car but, if all your doing is changing the head unit, the adapter is all that has to be done. One person on here installed an Eclipse and he did not even need the adapter. |

| ok thanks. what he meant by rewire is to rewire all the speakers and i believe get new speakers..but i can get new speakers later. ill just pick up the converter instead then remove when i decide to get a new sub and speakers |

Hi Nerfkhat,
I was thinking of similar option for my recently purchased 04. Did your installer confirm a D3 will fit?? And if so, how?? I am being told there is not quite enough room without MAJOR work being done, including the rewiring issue. |

The D3 will fit but, there's always a but, you will have to make a trim ring to fit around it. There is no kit for a double din. My W200 bolts to the factory brackets and then I made a trim ring to go around it. I modified a single din kit for mine. |

If you do get rid of your Bose radio, I'd be interested in buying it from you. What year MDX is it coming out of?
Let me know your thoughts,

| it should fit. but you do actually have to make a double din trim out of the single din since they dont make one for our cars. my bose stereo is from a 02' but it also has a white led conversion on it also. so id want some more just for that if i sell it. i think that i can get the d3 installed with the frequency conversion to work with bose amp and custom made trim |

| I am interested in the avic d3. My brother and dad have put them in there h2 and zo6 and love them. I am interested in how it looks when in the x. I am considering also hooking it up to a couple of headrest monitors. |
