I just went to my dealer, and for a base model, they automatically add $1,300 worth of options...mudflaps, wheel locks,
heavy duty floor mats, and a polymer paint protectant.
I wish I had the option of not having all that...do you think it could be negotiable?
I test drove one today...man what a vehicle! and I think that is why they are getting msrp plus for them.
They say I'll have to wait...I'm on a waiting list...30-60 days till a batch comes in.
Thanks for any help!

i'm hearing about these dealers who are adding these items to inflate the price. dealers are already getting more then enough profit by charging MSRP... don't do business with such dealers who try to tack on more. you can get your car shipped from another dealer less than $1,300, it will send them a message.
I purchased my base mdx for msrp, it came w/ wheel locks. rear mud flaps cost $40 (mdx comes with front ones already), all season floor mats are about $100, paint protection $200-$500 (but is just another way for dealerships to overcharge in my opinion). these tactics are cheap and not the type of treatment that one should expect when buying from any reputable dealer.
I would suggest you list your location and maybe someone who has experience in your area can assist you with better service/pricing.

I'm in the Nashville area, and there is only one dealer in town.
Feel kinda stuck.
Any opinions or suggestions would be great!

| If you live in Nashville you can drive 2.5 hrs and buy in Memphis. Leave your email address and I'll set you up with my salesperson. He was super and there was no BS in the deal. Even got options at discount price. Don't buy from Gary Force Acura. I checked them when buying and the internet salesperson told me all sorts of things that I knew were incorrect. |

First of all I am sorry that is so long. I am very angry with this dealer.
The same dealer and the same sleazy salesman, tried to pull the same stuff with me. First of all, Acura’s MSRP on the net was not the same as their MSRP and of course it was more. I ordered one thing then he adds $1213 for extra options that I did not want. Well I am sad to say I canceled my order. I may take my business to Memphis. I hope Acura reads these threads. I was going to buy their product, but this person cost them a sell.
This is what I ordered………

Highly suggest driving out to Memphis and buying here. We purchased our Mahogany MDX base with Nav from Acura of Memphis and had a great buying experience. Our salesman answered all our questions and did not pressure us about accessories. He was upfront about accessory pricing and charged us MSRP for our MDX. Our wait was approximately 2 months. When we picked up our MDX we were in and out of the dealership within 45 minutes. We opted to buy and install our accessories from tim from hondacuraworld and saved a whole lot of money.

Folks;
DO NOT buy any user removable accessorys from the sales end of the orgnization: the prices are quoted as "dealer installed" for a cargo cover, luggage net or floor mats that are all made to be put in and taken out by the owner. Why pay 50% more.
Also, it's been stated plenty of times: You don't need to buy from the dealer you will use for service. Period. The service guy at any dealer will be pleased as punch to have your business. Sometimes they throw in free oil changes for a while, but what is that really worth?
And I assume everyone knows that 'hondacuraworld' is an Acura Dealership... no need to doubt the quality of their products.

| Mine came in at $41,000 after Lasher Acura added the flared fenders and all of the other stuff I would rather have had a choice on or installed myself. To add insult, they UPCHARGED the labor to "install" them because "labor costs are higher". Baloney. At least they didn't upcharge the MSRP base price. In another year when MDXs are more plentiful they won't be able to pull this sort of thing. (But then they'll probably upcharge the MSRP...) |

Steve, try Jerry Damson in Huntsville, AL. My dealer was Kin Wilson (ask for him). If I can drive one back to New Hampshire through a blizzard, you can pop down from Nash-vegas! (By the way, I would NOT suggest Pye Acura in Chattanooga, however..)

MSUSpartan
LASHER ACURA in SACRAMENTO
I PERSONALLY had a conversation with Scott Lasher who assured me that they "absolutely would not load up vehicles" and that the salesperson who told me he couldn't sell just an "unloaded" car was "misadvised".
Guess he was wrong, eh? (He is the general manager I believe. His daddy runs all of Lasher auto group)
And folks wonder why consumers treat autodealerships with disdain and mistrust....
