Has anyone used or heard of anyone using Amsoil synthetic automatic transmission fluid in and '03 MDX? According to their website and telephone technical staff, their fluid matches with the Honda Z1 standard and may be safely used in this vehicle. Before I spend the money to flush all the fluid out and replace it, I would like to get the benefit of anyone else's experience doing that. Apart from just generally believing synthetics are virtually always better (I'm using Amsoil in the engine), I have noticed that for the first mile or so after a cold start, the transmission is slower to upshift than at other times which tells me the Honda fluid is taking some period of time to warm up so to speak to full performance, and it's my hope that the synthetic would be start working 100% almost from the very start. Any opinions or experiences would be most welcome.

I would not use anything other than mfg specified fluid in the tranny. Especially given the tranny history of the MDX.

I would guess that Acura could also use it as an excuse not to give you any 'grace' on their unofficial extension of their tranny replacement warranty.

If you are already well above 100k miles however, then it's a different story as Acura probably wouldn't give you any grace anyway.
