| A while ago I posted a thread trying to find solutions for a DVD ERROR appearing on my screen. Time passed, and eventually, my navigation stopped working all together. Not only did the nav stop, but it somewhat locked up my entire system, anything screen-related. Took it to the dealership, and came to find out the drive was faulty, and was carving a deep scratch into the DVD for the nav. He showed me the disc, and it was like someone took a knife and started carving into it. They put in an order for new drive and new disc. I was shocked, as the car was only a week old at the time. He said he has seen this before, but it is rare. The tech said they should have picked this up when the preped the car for delivery. I am still waiting for the part to come in (1.5 weeks later). Will keep posted with updates. |

My entire GPS unit (along with the HandsFreeLink and XM units) were replaced due to an intermittent voice command problem.
Glad they were able to figure out the problem with your MDX. Hope you get this fixed soon! |

| After two weeks, called the dealership to see where the part is. My service rep called parts, and parts informed him that they are on backorder!!!! Service rep says this is uncommon (then why are they on backorder?) I am getting frustrated.... |

The part is not back-ordered, it has to be custom ordered from alpine as a new unit or an Refibished RL unit because each unit is pretty picey at 2K for the navi drive. |

| Do you think I can rest at ease knowing that they ordered it through Alpin if that is the case? Or do you think I am being run around. I am trying to decide how long to wait before taking the next step. |

| since they are pricey, I think that they are just waiting for alpine to send one out as not to many delaers woulde keep it on hand. |

| I'd make sure you get a new unit and not a refurb. The car was new and they should only replace parts with new parts. |

| after about 4 weeks of waiting, my nav drive and replacement disc finally came in to the parts dept. Took it in this morning to have it installed, and it works perfectly. In fact (this may just be my imagination), but it seems that it works better (and faster) then before. Oh well, that is one chapter I hope I never have to re-read again. It was a pain driving with an error code on my screen the entire time. YAY! |

My problem started a few months ago actually.
If you guys ever get a long delay after selecting the city when you try to input an address, you might get this DVD error eventually too. That's what happened to me a few months ago.
Then this last weekend, the entire navigation went out. An error screen pops up saying something like DVD read errror, consult dealer.
Went to the dealer. They looked at it and said they needed to order a whole entire ECU unit and a new DVD. Have to bring back the car next week. |

Took them a week to order and get the parts.
I also had them do an audio update to fix the speaker popping when the key turns in the ignition too. |
