| Picked up 2007 Sport / Entertainment Formal Black on Parchment MDX two days ago... already drove 1000 miles in 2 days. Does anybody know what the break-in period is? I was told not to drive it too fast for the first couple hundred miles.. and most of the driving done in the past 2 days was highway driving but i tried to stay around 65 miles. Is it fine to drive at higher speeds now? Thanks |

New cars don't have the same limitations as older cars. Way back in the day, cars weren't built to the same precision specs that they are today, so the rings on the piston really needed time to seat properly, and driving too hard could cause them to score the cylinders.
Today's cars don't have the same issues, though the stigma is still around. After you drive a few hundred miles, your rings have seated and there is nothing to worry about. |

| Actually, you're supposed to vary your speed during the 600 mile break-in period. |

Very true. This is really the only thing that you have to worry about during the "breat in."
